Hi honeys!
Apologies for my absence the past week. I've been busy with the usual stuff: flying. The weather in Europe pretty much sucks so I didn't bother to take any pictures. Besides that I'm learning for my promotional training to become a senior cabin attendant (yay!). I'm having my promotional course next week and in the following week I'm getting trained, so excited!
I'm sorry but this is for my Dutch readers only, since this great webshop is only shipping to the NL!
Klik hier!
While I try not to eat too much meat, I can't skip a good sandwich with carpaccio! I think I eat meat app. 1 to 2 times a week, I just don't really like it and I believe we DO need meat but not a lot of it. That's the way I look at things, I'm not an expert though. Anyway, when having a good carpaccio sandwich at schiphol airport, I decided to try it out myself at home and share the recipe with you guys and girls. Here we go!
It's that time of the year again! Huge closet clearout because I really want to go to Thailand. Who of you dutch girls is going to help me? Check out my MARKTPLAATS
One week has gone by. So just a quick update about my very own challenge. How are you girls and guys doing? Still eating healthy? Or have you had some snacks, like me?
Nowadays, overnight oats are hot and happening in the world of fitness and clean eating. And as some of you already know, I'm also have my very own 'Fashion Moodboard challenge', which includes healthy and clean eating. While my usual breakfast is always the same, I decided to try something different after a tip from a lovely colleague (thanks Marthe!). Overnight oats are healthy and they are great as a breakfast to start of a green day!
Yes, I named my Iphone. Her name is Lola, and we've been together for the past year. I can't go a day without her, she is one of things I always bring with me. Anyway, Lola is an iphone 4 who has suffered from several injuries (she swam in wine...) but she is still going strong, thank goodness... Lola is capturing my life every single day, so I hope you enjoy the pictures! :)
I'm going to Thailand in two months, so when I was thinking about a healthy recipe for tonights diner, I came up with a lovely green curry. With special thanks to our dutch supermarket Albert Heijn. This green curry is healthy, very easy and also really quick. Alright... Let's start!
Every now and then, when I wear something extraordinary (some people call it crazy), strangers come up to me and tell me they like a particular piece of clothing I'm wearing. Today, a teenage girl and an eldery couple told me how much they loved my shoes. Isn't that awesome? It totally made my day! It's kind of a me-going-crazy day today, where I'm wearing my new printed leggings combined with michael jackson booties and a salmon sweater.
The thing about the shoes is that I found them in Nuremberg, a couple of days ago. There was a crazy sale going on at Zara and I found these beauties for just €30,- which is like heaven! It was the last pair and it was exactly my size! Lucky, lucky, LUCKY me!
Finally, day 5 of my 5 day trip. Came out of Glasgow this morning, but is was cold and rainy, so I didn't went out. But I have some cool pictures for you from Trondheim, where I was two days ago. It was again a beautiful day, just like Linkoping. I decided to dye my hair to a chocolate brown color, what do you think? You like it? I'm very pleased with it.
After I did my hair, I went out for a 2 hour walk in Trondheim. It was so beautiful. It's good to be with yourself sometimes, I really enjoy it. After wandering around in town I climbed up to the hill with a cute little house and sat there for half an hour in the sunshine. There was no wind, just beautiful sunshine and bright blue skies. It was a moment where I felt extremely happy.
Just a quick hello. I'm on my five day trip, currently writing from my hotelroom in Trondheim (norway). I was in Linkoping yesterday (sweden), and took a lot of pictures. The weather was extremely beautiful: blue skies, hardly any wind but it was really cold (during the night it was minus 18). I walked around, went to the gym and enjoyed a good lunch.
My challenge is going really well, only exercising is difficult because of my lack of time when I'm flying. But I ate fresh fruit and veggies everyday. How are you doing?
I'm counting the days till summer holiday (Thailand again this year) and I would love to be in a good shape. Don't get me wrong, I know I'm already 'slim', but still have some fat I would like to get rid off and muscles I would like to become visible. Yes, I do want to become FIT, not skinny. I don't want to loose weight, I want to eat healthier and exercise more! Sooo... This is what it is all about...
The reason
My personal reason to join my own challenge is because I'm not pleased with my lifestyle anymore. Since I'm flying around five to six days a week, my diet changed quickly. I eat a lot of deepfried food (gosh I love mac donalds), pizza's and pasta's. And even worse is that I eat fruit and veggies very rarely. I stick to salty, fat food which is easy and quick to eat but my belly is bloating afterwards and it doesn't make you feel better.
I repeat, I don't want to loose weight. I'm very pleased with my weight, so this is not the reason. After reading a lot of food blogs and fit inspiration blogs on the internet, I found out that healthy food and clean eating in general actually DO makes a difference. You will feel better, fitter and your skin will glow again. So, what's your reason to join my challenge?
The idea
Eat clean, unprocessed natural food, exercise every day and avoid eating packaged foods. Eat only whole foods. So fresh fruit, veggies and don't eat stuff with E numbers or other ingredients you have never heared of and can't pronounce. Eat slower, enjoy your food more and listen to your body: when you're hungry you eat and when you're full/satisfied: stop. Your muscles are 70% created by your diet, the other 30% is done in the gym. So yes, get your lovely butts to the gym or do your workout at home. Besides that eat 5 to 6 mini meals each day.
The food to avoid
- White bread, white pasta's, white rice
- Soda's
- Deepfried food (bye bye Mac Donalds)
- Processed meats (like bacon, hot dogs and salami).
- Sugary Cereals (choose a cereal that contains little suger and more fiber)
- Candy
- Fake Fruit Juices (too much sugar)
- Alcohol (also too much sugar)
- Eliminate refined sugar
- Limit your daily amount of milk
The food to eat
- Whole grain carbohydrates (whole wheat bread and pastas)
- Brown rice
- Nuts
- Beans
- Oils
- Poultry
- Fish
- Eggs
- Veggies
- Fruits
- Lean meats (in moderation)
- Oatmeal
Exercise
So as mentioned before, the diet is important, but exercising is just as important. I'm a beginner at this, I'm starting as a newbie. I am not sure if it's possible for me as a flight attendant to exercise every day (since I'm just too tired or have not enough time when I fly 11 hours a day), but my ultimate goal is to workout 5 times a week. And I would love to rotate daily when it comes to cardio and building muscles. I'm planning on swimming, running, cycling and doing at home exercises to tone my body! What's your goal?
Let's start!
So yeah, let's start! Let me know who's with me? We'll start tomorrow (wednesday the 13th of march 2013) and our challenge will end 4 weeks later. Don't forget to make pictures of your body!
Since I can't do a daily update of the FMB challenge, follow me on:
- Instagram to see my daily meals
- Facebook to see me do my workouts!
For today an inspiring video by Olivia Palermo. I'm in Kristiansand today, it's freezing cold, snowing and I didn't bring my comfortable winter jacket. So I'm not going outside today (really wanted to take some pictures though). Besides that, my mini laptop broke down yesterday, the screen was flickering and you couldn't identify the start up button. But it's back alive today, fingers crossed it will work tomorrow as well! Anyway, I hope you like this video as much as I did! Enjoy!
So here is a little beauty post, about my daily make up. After suffering from serious acné for more than 5 years, I'm so happy that it finally cleared up! I use less make up and am confident enough to go outside without wearing any make up! But as a flight attendant, you do need a little bit of help when flying in a very bright airplane. No, airplanes and flying in general doesn't make you look amazing.
Just another outfit of the day. Tomorrow I'm 4 days away, flying again. Nice, Bremen and Kristiansand are my nightstops, and guess what? The weather forcast is not very good for all of my stops. Rainy nice, Snowy Bremen and icecold Kristiansand. Oh well, maybe it's time to catch up on some sleep and relaxing. I haven't had a good night sleep in weeks, so I would love to relax a bit in Bremen. By the way, it's like day 8 or 9 without redbull and still going strong :-)
Crazy things are happening in the Netherlands dear peeps... Today it was 15*C degrees in Amsterdam, insane! Last week it was freezing cold, and now it feels like spring has finally kicked in. It's about time!
And how this spring weather changes my mood so drastically. I'm happy, I feel energized (even without redbull, day 8 peeps, day 8!) and I want to be outside all day! I bought a lovely wooden basket for my bike and pimped it with some flowers. Can't wait to take it outside and show it off! Will show you soon :)
If felt really good today even without wearing a coat. When I take my coat off for the outfit pictures, I usually freeze my *ss off, red nose included. But today, no coat, no red nose! Yay!
I'm going cold turkey... And it's difficult! I'm a little redbull junkie, I had to drink 1 redbull a day, which I did. 1 redbull was my max, but there wasn't a day without a redbull. It gave new energy, but after a high there's always a 'low'. So after my sugar/coffeine rush, I felt even more tired than before. I had a love and hate relationship with redbull. I really needed it when I wake up at 4AM in the morning for a day with 4 flights. But I also needed it later during the day, to give me some extra energy.
But I'm going cold turkey now. I haven't drank any redbull or energizing drink in 7 days. 7 days! Yeah, I do miss it. But it doesn't fit in my new and healthy lifestyle. I'm also planning (yeah, planning...) on skipping pizza's, pasta's and fried food for a while. Stay tuned...
There is this thing about Norway, or Scandinavia in general, which I truly love. The beauty is beyond amazing and makes me long for a life abroad. You know, to start completely over, in a new and yet undiscovered world. Without knowing anybody or anything. But hey, that's just me daydreaming. Fortunately, I have a job which takes me to pretty places and let me discover something new every single day.
I haven't been to Kristiansand (Norway) for quite some time. I think it was last year, on my birthday, when I strolled around together with the crew. We climbed the hills, discovered the most beautiful view over the fjords. Yes, Kristiansand is beyond beautiful. And two days ago, when I was on reserve duty, they called me out to nightstop in Kristiansand. It was 9 degrees, the sky was blue and the sun shone, such a perfect day to take some pictures! I hope you enjoy them.
