Happy New Year!

I'm sending out my love from Frankfurt, where I will have my newyears together with my collegue/one of my best friends. We have a five day trip, and today is actually the first day where I had the time and the working internet to make a post. And thank goodness it's just in time!

For 2013 I have some great plans. For myself, my blog and the world around me. I want to start the new year without any fights or bad feelings but just with friends, love and happiness.

I wish you all the best for 2013. I hope you are lucky, happy, loved, motivated and healthy and that all your wishes may come true. Thank you for this year, for your lovely comments, your emails, your tips and your visits.

See you soon,
Love,
Shalane

FLYING: Kerst in Bologna

From -10 degrees in Trondheim to a foggy +5 degrees in Bologna. We arrived around noon in Bologna on the 25th of december, first day of christmas. I made a reservation in a well known italian restaurant Vicolo Colombina for a delicious christmas lunch.

It was a 20 minute walk from the hotel to the restaurant, and the streets were basically empty. No cars or busses, just a few people strolling around. The main square in Bologna (with a special fountain, check my pictures below) was a bit more crowded. There was a huge christmas tree, but it was not a very beautiful one.

For the lunch we started with some italian goodies: parma ham, parmazan cheese and other delicious meats to share. My first course was the famous 'tagliatella bolognese', from Bologna of course. As a main dish, I had the restaurants special 'christmas' dish: sausages with veggies and mashed potatoes. It was a lot of delicious food, combined with a nice red wine. It was a perfect, relaxed christmas afternoon. We ended the day with a drink in the hotel room, since it was quite cold outside. Perfect christmas, and luckily my crew was amazing! Thanks again guys. This trip will definitely make it to my top 3 list of best trips for work!

FLYING: Trondheim en Röros

Merry christmas everyone! Hope you had an amazing day, with lots of love, food and maybe even some presents? My trip during christmas was a present itself. I started with a day over in Trondheim on the 24th of December. We rented a car (and got a nice upgrade to a more luxurious one) and drove 2,5 hours to the south of Norway for a husky sled tour in Röros. We had only 5 hours of daylight, but it was so magical and amazing, a true once in a lifetime experience.

The husky's were really sweet, we had to put them in front of the sled ourselves, with a little bit of help from the owner. I had my own sled with 4 beautiful dogs. We did a 1,5 hour tour which was beautiful, like breathtaking. But the dogs are very powerful, and so I fell of my sled twice, one time with my face in the snow. Haha. But it was a lot of fun and I will never forget it! With -10 degrees it was really cold, but thank goodness the owner had some nice 'jumpsuits'(?) for us available and some extra hats to borrow.

And afterwards we drove back to Trondheim for a lovely DIY christmas diner. We had to make our own diner, since the hotel was basically empty (we were the only 4 persons in the hotel). They had some microwave food for us, but we prefered something more tasty. ;-) And so we had our own little mini grill with veggies and meat. Ohnomnomnom :)

I finally decided to do a little instagram post. Since I wasn't able to use my beloved DSRL camera most of the week due to the heavy rain, I decided to snap some pictures with my iphone and give them a nice little instagram 'touch'. My week was alright. Linköping was freezing but insanely beautiful with all the snow. In the early morning when we had to leave Linköping again, our airplane was frozen! The toilets were not working, nor was our water boiler. But after 20 minutes up in the air, the toilet and water boiler started working again thank goodness gracious.

And so we headed to Nice, which was about 30 degrees warmer than Linköping, but I was still freezing. Thanks to the stupid hotel room airconditioning which refused to heat up my room. And so I wore a lot of layers before I went to bed. It was just 16 degrees in my room, brrr. During the day I went to the shopping mall, but was extremely bored and didn't buy anything.

And I already told you about my trip to Venice, which was rainy too. But it was way better than Nice ;)

So,What are you looking at? (from left to right, top to bottom)
Sweden from 33.000ft // Beautiful view from the cockpit // Descent into Linköping
Freezing Linköping (-20 degrees) // Insane amount of snow // Linköping
Freezing in Nice (france) as well // Nice was grey, dark and rainy // Spotting airplanes at Luxembourg airport
Rainy Venice, Rialto bridge // View from the Rialto // Christmas in Venice

FLYING: Venetië

A cold and rainy saturday afternoon in Venice, Italy. The city was pretty much empty, I think everybody stayed inside. I went together with the co-pilot, who wasn't afraid of the rain. There is nothing which I hate more than spending a complete day in my hotel room without seeing any daylight. I always need to go outside, rain or no rain. So the co-pilot joined me and we spent the afternoon at a christmas market and an Irish pub in Venice, close to the rialto bridge. At six we took the boat bus back to the central station and somewhere around 7.30PM we were back at the hotel. We got ourselves a lovely pizza and had a very nice diner in the room. Such a lovely day, despite of the rain. Venice is just so pretty!

Reflections of my life - post 400

Today it's 12-12-12, kind of a silly date if you ask me. But this day went by so quickly, without noticing that it is kind of special. When some people get married, engaged, have a baby, celebrate something or have a birthday today, I just did basically nothing. Besides making this outfit post. It is my only day off, I came back yesterday and start working tomorrow morning again. Linköping, Nice and Venice are my nightstops. I already checked the weather and it's supposed to be rainy, wet and shit. Anyway, I'll bring my cheerful mood and hope for the best.

How are you girls and guys doing today? Did anything special because of this date? And also a big welcome and thank you to my new followers! It's so amazing to see that the amount of followers is getting bigger every day! I appreciate your kind comments alot! But bear with me, as I'm going away tomorrow again. I may or may not have time for my blog. But I'll do my utmost to make some beautiful pictures!

And a little celebration today: this is post number 400!

Don't be afraid of the dark

Good news for the petite girls amoung us: I teamed up with the dutch webshop Kenzaa, who are specialized in petite sizes like xxs, xs and s. As a 'skinny' girl like myself, I have trouble finding the right size. Most of the time, a 'regular' size small, it too big. But also with my length, it is difficult to find some good trousers which are small but long enough.

Anyway, it's my pleasure to introduce kenzaa to you. I love their fashion: it's original, following all the trends and esspecially made for petite girls. Besides that, the prices are really low! The floral blouse (click here to buy it!) I'm wearing was a gift from Kenzaa and I'm really happy with it. Fits perfectly and I can't wait to wear it during the summer! But now, with temperatures below zero, I combined it with my faux leather burgundy trousers and a warm black blazer.

FLYING: Bordeaux

And part II of my reserve duty week: Bordeaux, France. We arrived around noon in this beautiful, typical french city on the west side of France. The last time I spend a night in Bordeaux was a long, long time ago. Besides that, the times I've been there, I was either sick, it was raining or the stop was too short to go outside. But this time, I had the entire day to stroll around in this beautiful city. And when the rainclouds dissapeared, the weather was good enough to walk around with your coat open.

We started our day in Bordeaux with a nice lunch at Cafe Le Dijeaux where I had a sandwich 'italienne', which was really good. Combined with a glass of vine blanc, it was the perfect way to start a day. After the lunch we split up and I strolled through the small streets of bordeaux with my camera ready to snap beautiful pictures. I walked up to the river and back and enjoyed the vibe of this city. After a little bit of window shopping I went back to the hotel to meet up with the crew again, for some drinks and later on for the best dinner possible. We went to Pizzeria Peppone. Not just a regular pizzeria, no: one of the best in Bordeaux if you ask me. It opens at 7PM, but there is already a queue outside when you arrive. They have the best pizza's and pasta's, and don't forget to take a look in their wine cellar! Pretty amazing.

FLYING: Praag

Remember I told you about my reserve duty? And how I got called out every single day? Well, after my day in Bologna I spend one night at home. At 5.01AM my phone was vibrating: incomming call from crewing, I had to report at the airport in an hour and a half for a three day trip to Prague and Bordeaux. I can tell you one thing, it hurts when you've just had 4 hours of sleep and your phone is waking you up. Painfull situation, but going to Prague and Bordeaux makes it worth it.

Anyway, we arrived in Prague around 2PM. The weather was not so fantastic, but Prague itself is pretty amazing. We strolled around at a christmas market and walked towards the bridge. Afterwards, we had a nice dinner on a rooftop terrace overlooking the main square.

Forget about Hello Kitty

(From left to right, top to bottom: H&M // Primark // H&M // Primark // H&M

Big shout out to all the ladies: please stop wearing your hello kitty underwear, or anything else girly and too colorfull. Get yourself some nice bra's and panties, and feel better instantly. I must admit, I didn't care alot about lingerie. But somehow, things changed. I usually buy my stuff at Intimissimi, Italy. They have the perfect shape for petite girls like myself and the lingerie is from outstanding quality. But when I saw these cute bra's and panties, I had to buy them. They are perfect for christmas and other special occasions. While I usually wear black, I immediately fell in love. Esspecially with the golden bra, haha. Every girl needs a bit of sparkle and bows, right? Perfect for yourself and perfect for the boyfriend as well. I don't think hello kitty does good to anyone out there. ;-)

Snowflakes all around

When I opened my curtain this morning, I noticed my garden covered in a thick layer of snow. Must admit, snow makes me feel 5 years old again. I simply love snow, it looks so pretty and cosy. I can't wait for my first snowboard lesson, which I'm planning to have in january. And I can't wait for iceskating on real ice (but indoor is okay as well).

And for the outfit of today I decided to wear my DIY army waistcoat/vest (I simply cut off the sleeves). I wore my leather jacket from H&M underneath it, making it look like a parka with leather sleeves. Ha Ha, fooled you, right? My beautiful bracelets are from the amazing girls from Jes & Lot, please check out their webshop. Those girls make the cutest jewerly for amazing prices and... if you have trouble finding and combining armcandy yourself: they got some amazing combinations. Their webshop already got featured in several magazines and blogs, so make sure to pay a visit!

FLYING: Bologna

Well hello my dear little sweethears,
I hope you are all fine. It has been a while, again, I know and I'm sorry for that. I was on reserve duty and they called me out every day of my 5 day week. And with the snowfall in the Netherlands, things didn't go as planned. But they nightstops were okay and the crew was great as well.

They called me for just a single flight to Bologna and only back to Amsterdam the next day, that was a luxurious trip for me! I hardly ever do just 1 flight a day, most of the time 2, 3 or 4. So in Bologna we had a little get-together in the hotel room. The next morning I got a call that our pick up time was delayed and so I had an hour extra to spend in my favorite Italian city. I decided to go out and ran into a small christmas market at a square close to our hotel. I strolled around and enjoyed the beautiful bright sky and the comfortable temperature of something around 10 degrees celcius (that's not too bad for this time of the year).

And fortunately I'll be going back to Bologna SOON. I'm there on the 25th of december (christmas) and still looking for a restaurant which is actually open. Do you dolls have tips for me maybe? See you soon!

Gotta love Isabel Marant

Things that brighten up my day are -besides reading your comments- recieving packages from the postman, filled with something I've been craving for. After dreaming, thinking, wishing and hoping for them, they are mine... finally! Not after saving a sh*tload of money, but after searching the entire world wide web, I finally found them. For just 35 euros including shipping. And no, of course they are not 'real' isabel marant dicker boots, but I think my knock offs look pretty good as well. Must say, that I'm not usually a person who buys knock off designer stuff. But I don't have the money for real dicker boots and that I don't want to spend that much of money on shoes or clothing in general. So this was a good and cheap solution (I'm sorry isabel marant...) to buy the boots I absolutely adore and was dreaming about for such a long time!

Maybe I'm a bit late, maybe they are not 'in fashion' anymore, but I simply don't care. I think these boots look great during winter and summer, with trousers and skirts. With cute knits and light dresses. I think they look amazing with every single piece I have in my wardrobe! And I can't wait to wear them! I'm almost afraid to wear them, hoping they stay beautiful. But they are not here just to look at. I hope to show you some outfits soon!

What do you think? Do you own knock offs or are you staying true to designers? And do you own a couple of dickers boots yourself? Let me know! :)
