FLYING: Landshut

I haven't been to Landshut (Munich) for a long time, so it was great to be back! As a flight attendant, I'm always flying to different destinations in europe. And sometimes you fly to a destination a couple of times, and sometimes you won't see it on your roster for a couple of months. That's what makes it fun and interesting.

Landshut is just a small and cute german village in the middle of nowhere. They have a castle on top of the hill and by accident I ran into a 'tierpark' also known as a small zoo. So cute! The castle is surrounded by a forest, and while I was walking back to my hotel, I had eye to eye contact with Bambi! She (or he) ran away ofcourse, but I followed her and took some pictures. Ofcourse the pictures are not very good, but I hope you enjoy them :)

Have you already checked out my webshop Belmont Vintage? Besides that, if you find it interesting, you can also follow me via instagram (shalane89) and facebook.

FLYING: Nurenberg

Out of all the hotels I stay for work, Nuremberg is by far my most favorite. It's located just across the train station and has easy access to the city center. But that's by far not the only thing I love. It's the interior, the feeling, the old building, the bathrooms... The complete package. It's a very old hotel but they completely renovated it. And it's the one place where I don't mind to stay in my room all day. Can you imagine?

FLYING: Stuttgart

Remember I told you about my five day trip? And that I gave an update about the delays? Well... It was quite an intense trip! Everything started out great: beautiful weather in Stuttgart and so it was amazing to go outside and take pictures. But later that day, when we were supposed to fly back, things have changed drastically. There was an early morning fog in Amsterdam which delayed every aircraft coming in and eventually going out... So our aircraft arrived really late. We were waiting for an hour and a half at the airport! And when the aircraft finally came in, we quickly boarded the passengers and were ready to go... But then the plane got technical. So... 2,5 hours with passengers on board and no new departure time... In the end, our flight got canceled and I flew back to Amsterdam as a passenger and had to go to Aalborg afterwards (was supposed to go to Kristiansand).

The next days were also quite strange, will tell you about that later! I hope you enjoy my autumn pictures of Stuttgart (or well, we stay in a little village just outside stuttgart, but I forgot about the name). Hope you guys are all doing well. Stay tuned for more!

FLYING: Dusseldorf

Remember I told about my reserve duty? And my nightstop in Dusseldorf? Well, I took a lot of pictures! We changed hotels in Dusseldorf, and now we're staying at the main street of Dusseldorf: Koningsallee. The hotel is good and I love its location in the city center. It was a pretty good day with lots of sunshine and I walked around with my collegues and had a typical German diner (Schnitzel!). My last visit was a year ago and I loved to be back. I also went shopping and bought cheap shampoo in the DM. Besided that, I went to 'Gina Tricot'. Didn't buy anything, but love their collection.

FLYING: Berlijn

Remember my -painful- break from blogging a couple of months ago? It was somewhere in may when I went to Berlin for work. It was my very first time and I was so looking forward to it!

The Berlin experience far exceeded my very high expectations! The hop on/hop off bus was also a lot of fun, and a great way to discover the city! You can't see the complete city in just a day, but a hop on/hop off bus definitely made things a lot easier!

So here are my belated postcards from Berlin. I hope you like them.

FLYING: Berlijn

Last week I had the chance to visit Berlin. Already knowing it would be my last visit for this year. Every now and then our rosters change and nightstops disappear completely or our main airline is taking them over, and that was the case. Hopefully we'll get Berlin back next year.

So while the other crewmembers decided to stay in the hotel, I went into town. It was my second time in Berlin and during the first time I wasn't able to see it all. I walked past Charlie's checkpoint, went to see the holocaust memorial and had an awesome Vietnamese dinner in a restaurant nearby.

FLYING: Keulen

Even though this was not my first nightstop in Cologne, it telt like it. Last time I was there, I was in feeling sick so I stayed in my hotelroom all day. Which is not too bad, since the hotel is pretty awesome (rainshowers included). So I considered this stop as my first time Cologne outside the hotel.

We walked along the bridge with all the locks and enjoyed this beautiful city and the sunshine for the complete afternoon. In the evening we had some drinks and pasta at Vapiano and went to bed early.

FLYING: Landshut

It has been a while since I went to Munich, or Landshut to be precise. It was actually over a year ago. So it was fun to go back, and see this cute little german village during the summer season. As some of you already know, I'm a cabin attendant and usually fly 5 days a week. Which means I spend more days a week in a hotel than at home. Munich is one of our nightstops... Unfortunately we don't spend our nights in a hotel in the city center of Munich. Instead, we hop on a cab for at least 30 mins and nightstop in Landshut.

I personally love Germany. It still feels I'm a little bit at home (Netherlands), but everything is so much cheaper and cleaner! I can't wait till october, when the Octoberfest party's take over Germany. Hopefully I'll be back. But it was alot of fun during this beautiful day to sit outside with a nice cold, white beer.

We had dinner at a local Thai restaurant. It was more or less a takeaway house instead of a restaurant. But the people were so friendly and the food was amazing. And so we decided to grab the nearest table and eat our (very spicy!) tom kha kai(?) soup. De to the licious!

FLYING: Bremen

And I experienced even more first times in European city's. Well, it wasn't exactly my first time. I went to Bremen a year ago, and had a really, really short stop over there at that time. So not enough time to discover this beautiful city.

Since we're not flying to Hamburg anymore (the main airline is flying there for the summer season, hopefully we'll get it back during the winter season) I'm looking to discover new favorite city's in Germany. And Bremen is really beautiful! I walked around on my own and there were so many people out on the street enjoying the sun! It was actually really crowded on a friday afternoon.

The thing I prefer the most about Germany are the prices: everything is cheaper than in the Netherlands. Even McDonalds is cheaper! (oh yes, I plead guilty! I LOVE junkfood... Bad habbit, I know) So I had a delicious veggie burger at mcdonalds as a lunch while I was walking around and enjoying this beautiful city. Later in the afternoon I picked up the other crewmembers at the hotel and we went to the riverside to enjoy a nice cold beer with the sun on our faces.

And with our sleepy and bit sunburned faces we went back to the city center to have a lovely italian diner at 'Delano's', which is located just behind the church. I had a lovely and HUGE vegetable pizza (and again, I plead guilty: I LOVE pizza's...).

Hope to visit Bremen again!

FLYING: Hamburg

It's a 'goodbye' month I guess: a lot of last times, or at least: for now. Luckily, we'll go to Hamburg next winter, so it's not a real goodbye, just a 'see you soon'. Anyway, I enjoyed my last trip to Hamburg to the MAX! Walked around and almost got lost in the big city by using the S bahn, and didn't know where to go. But thank goodness for internet abroad on my iphone. What to do without one, right?

Anyway, if you think about going to Hamburg: DO IT! In the summertime it's perfect to chill and have a picknick at the Alster Lake, where you can also rent a boat if you're up for some fun!
Prefer a good shopping trip? Whether you are rich or poor, Hamburg has a lot to offer! Stay inside the city center when you prefer the high street shops, and hop on the S or U bahn to go outside the citycenter, to visit 'sternschanze' or other neighbourhoods.

I also LOVE the harbour area in Hamburg, I've already showed a lot of pictures in my previous post. It's really nice to walk around, and the city center itself has a lot to offer.

The thing I'm gonna miss the most about Hamburg is by far the hotel and it's restaurants. It's such an amazing city! Check out my pictures in my previous posts and let me know if you have more tips for Hamburg!
And why not discover the nightlife of Hamburg?

FLYING: Hamburg

Hi honeys!

Some pictures of my adventures in Hamburg last week. We came in late during the night and went out the next afternoon. So I had some time to walk around and enjoy this beautiful city. I really love the harbor area in Hamburg. And the fancy shops :) I also wanted to show you my hotelroom in Hamburg. It is my favorite hotel. The people, the food, the rooms, everything is so beautiful and good! It's in the middle of the center and unfortunately our main airline is going to fly to Hamburg this summer, so we're not going to nightstop over there anymore :( Anyway, if you have the time and the money, I would definitely advise you to visit Hamburg! It's such an amazing city!

It was a luvely day in Nuremberg! We arrived really early and had a really good german lunch (schnitzel!) and a nice beer. Unfortunately the christmas markets (weihnachtsmarkt) weren't open, but we still enjoyed the 'christmass vibe' the city has.

What to do when you've got plenty of time in Frankfurt? Well, usually I go out, explore the countryside or go to the town for some shopping. But unfortunately on sundays everything is closed in Germany. And it was raining like crazy that day. So I decided to stay inside and enjoyed a very late breakfast (1.30PM) with the rest of the crew and catched up on some old magazines. The night before I went out in Frankfurt city, which was actually really nice. For the German readers amoung us: do you know the livingroom in Frankfurt? I really liked that place!

And right now I'm nightstopping in Brussels, Belgium. I need to wake up tomorrow around 4.45AM in the way too early morning, so I'm already in bed right now.

Night night!

Picture journal of my trip to Frankfurt. We're not staying in the 'main' city, but more or less at the countryside, which I absolutely LOVE! The hotel offers free bycicles, so after breakfast I went out to take some nice pictures (and trying out the selftimer on my camera! ;)) and enjoy the nature. There was also an opportunity to pick flowers, which was only like 20cts per flower or something like that. I didn't pick any flowers because of my work, I was supposed to go to Bologna after Frankfurt, but other people did. It was actually really crowded! The hotel we're staying is really, really nice! We stayed there on sunday and the breakfast was till 2.30PM! They know what we need ;) They offer some great things for us as crew, so I always love to go to frankfurt! :)
