TRAVEL: Rome

Remember my citytrip to Rome part I? Maybe you've also already seen part II. So here it is, the final part, part III. We stayed for 3 nights in Rome and during our last day we decided to go inside the St. Peters chapel. The queue was really long but it turned out that the actual waiting in the line wasn't so bad. First things first so we climbed five hundred something steps all the way up to the St. Peters chapel. The view was absolutely breathtaking, just like all the steps going up, which was kind of a workout.

Afterwards we went inside the church which was absolutely amazing to see. Such a huge, beautiful church! After our visit we wandered around in the city for quite some time. We went up to the river, to a fountain and also back to the pantheon. We had the evening flight back to Amsterdam so we definitely made the most out of our last day in beautiful Rome. Hope you enjoy the photos!

All the photos were taken with our Canon 1000d with a 50mm f/1.8 lens. We also used our Samsung NX2000 camera, which did an amazing job during this holiday :)

TRAVEL: Rome

We woke up really early for a day of fun in Rome. After a delicious breakfast in bed it was time to explore this amazing city. Our first stop was the colosseum, but unfortunately the queue to go inside was so, so long that we decided to skip it and go straight to Forum Romanum and Circus Maximus where we wandered around until lunchtime. It is amazing to walk between these extremely old ruïns, it was a dream coming true! After a not so very delicious pizza we went to the Pantheon, which was located in the citycenter. The Pantheon truly is an amazing building, with a huge hole in the ceiling. It wasn't really crowded thankfully, so we could go inside to check it out. We decided to go back to the Colosseum one more time to see if the queue already dissapeared; and thankfully it did! We bought ourselves Roma Passes on our day of arrival which gives us free entrance to two major museums and also free use of the public transport in the citycenter. The Roma Pass came in quite handy since we could skip the line which was still very long to buy a ticket. Anyway, the Colosseum was really beautiful and HUGE! It's quite amazing if you think about the things that happend there so many years ago. I hope you enjoy the photos! :)

TRAVEL: Rome

For those of you who have been following me on instagram @flyingfashionblogger might have already noticed that I went on a little citytrip last week. As a flight attendant I'm not only able to visit the most amazing places in Europe, I can fly as a passenger for a reduced price too. So when the boy and I had six(!) days off together (working parttime is paying of!), we decided we wanted to go on a citytrip together. It has been a while, our last citytrip was to Bruges almost two years ago. In the mean time we did go on holiday, but not on citytrips. So after a whole lot of research we decided to go to Rome, which was the best decision!

FLYING: Florence

Let me take you with me during a nightstop in Florence, Italy. A beautiful city, most of the time overcrowded by tourists but on a nice late summer day it was pretty do-able. Thanks to my job as a flight attendant I am able to see the most beautiful cities in Europe. One of my main items in my carry on luggage is my camera, which I bring along during every nightstop. It was a beautiful day; we arrived around noon and had some lunch first. Since it was pretty warm that day I went for a 'raw pasta' with a delicious guacamole sauce (it sounds strange but it was damn tasty!). After lunch we wandered around in the small streets, along the main tourist sights and we had a delicious soda in a local restaurant. It was a good, good day in beautiful Florence. Have you ever been there?

FLYING: Florence

Perfect day!

During my 5 day flying trip one of the lovely afternoons was spend in Florence, Italy. Such a beautiful city. It was bloody hot and very crowded thanks to the school holidays but the city itself is beautiful regardless. In Florence I'm always doing my usual round along the Duomo, the statues (David) and walking over ponte Vecchio (the well known bridge). Today was like any other day in Florence, but it was beautiful and sunny. After a delicious italian lunch and the usual tourist hotspots we ended our day with a lovely crêpe nutella. Perfect ending for a perfect day!

FLYING: Bologna

Hi everyone,

First of all I would like to thank you very much for the sweet words. My mum is still in the hospital working hard on her recovery and hopefully next week she will be going home. I really miss her alot, the house is very empty without her. She is also the one who photographs all my outfits, therefor the lack of updates on this blog. I can't describe how much I love her and how much I want her to get better. And when she's home, my brother and I bought her a lovely suprise which we hope she'll love.

After a busy week I'm now flying for 5 days, first nightstop in Alesund. Not alot of time though, but that's allright. I try to relax a little bit and work on my blog. These photos are from last week, when I was in Bologna, one of my favorite cities. It's also the day my mum went to the hospital. Sometimes my job as a flight attendant is not a lot of fun when you want to go home quickly but you can't. Anyway, I'm wearing a thrifted top and shorts and my cute shoes are from Flossy. What do you think?

FLYING: Florence

Hi lieve allemaal,

Hi dear all,

About two weeks ago I had an afternoon in Florence thanks to my work as a flight attendant. I have been there before, but only from Bologna. But this time we were actually flying to Florence and nightstopping in Florence! The hotel is just perfect and close to the city.

Together with the crew I enjoyed a nice italian lunch and discovered all the must see's in town. I had to go to bed early because the alarmclock was set for 4AM the next morning. But Florence is super cool and amazing and everything in between. It was pretty cloudy that day, but during sunset the clouds disappeared, it was just magic.

FLYING: Vintage in Bologna

Hi sweethearts,

I already mentioned it a thousand of times: Bologna is by far my most favorite nightstop destination! I request this nightstop all the time. Not only because of the amazing shops and food but most of all for the great weather! Besides that, every friday and saturday there is a really cool vintage flea market!

Inspired by the vintage market on the main square in Bologna, I decided enjoy the last days of summer and wear my 'new' vintage dress which I found in the thriftstore a couple of weeks ago. I really, REALLY love this dress, I'm so happy I found it for just 5 euro, so I had to wear it and I can't wait till next summer! Anyway, enough about thrifting, my day in Bologna was filled with food, food and even more food. I had a big pasta lunch and a slice of pizza as dinner. Heaven!

P.s: it would be amazing if you would 'LIKE' my facebook page! Please click here! :)

FLYING: Bologna

Bologna oh Bologna. Finally I'm back. I was already afraid that it would be a summer without Italy, but thank goodness Bologna was on my roster, with plenty of time to spend!

But it was sunday, during the summer holidays, and the city was basically empty. No market, no shops, nothing! But there was delicious food and beautiful buildings, so I hope you like the pictures :)

FLYING: Verjaardag in Bologna

I really wanted to celebrate my birthday in the city I love the most: Bologna. But it was the day after my birthday (25th of april) when we arrived in Italy. So after changing into our summer outfits really quickly (it was 26 degrees!) we went to Drogheria Della Rossa for my birthday lunch.

It's my favorite place to be, Italy and especially Bologna and specifically Drogheria Della Rossa. :) The food is great and the wine is amazing. Thanks to Emanuelle, the owner, my birthday was amazing! And the crew ofcourse, without them it was just a normal day. So thanks again!

FLYING: Bologna

I wrote a couple of posts about Bologna. Simply because it's my all time favorite destination. I try to request a Bologna nightstop one a month. It's the food, the people, the fashion, the drinks. Bologna has it all.

And the most amazing thing about Bologna is the friday and saturday fleamarket. Every week! Amazing clothes, I already bought a lot of things from there, true vintage and really, REALLY cheap! I went to Bologna last saturday, but the weather was hideous. It was raining and there was a thunderstorm as well. So we enjoyed a good red wine and some nice parma ham in a local trattoria.

In between the rainshowers I went to the flea market and bought a blue dress, a cute blouse and a vintage Levi's 501. I also took a couple of pictures, which I hope you like!

FLYING: Triëst

Day two in Venice, or actually: Triëst. As I already mentioned in my previous post, I was really lucky to get an extra day in Venice due to heavy snowfall in Amsterdam (our flight got cancelled). So after a day of cycling around in Quarto D'Altino, I decided to go to Triëst the next day. The cockpit crew wanted to join me on a 1,45 hour train ride all the way to the east of Italy.

Triëst is a beautiful, chique and french looking (in my opinion) city in the east of Italy, next to the sea and close to the slovenian border. It was a beautiful train ride from Quarto D'Altino to Triëst. I can't believe there are so many vineyards in Italy! Amazing! We arrived around 2PM and went to a nice restaurant to grab some lunch. After lunch we walked around and ended up at the main square which was breathtaking!

And while the boys went for a beer in a local pub to warm up (they forgot their gloves and it was pretty cold that day), my ultimate goal was to see the sunset. I walked to the harbor and enjoyed one of the most spectacular and beautiful sunsets I've ever seen. It was such a beautiful and sunny day, perfect to visit a city as beautiful as Triëst. Words can't describe the beauty, so please be warned for an overload of pictures...

FLYING: Quarto D'Altino

After two nights in Glasgow, I went to Venice. Our hotel is located in a small village just outside Venice: Quarto D'Altino. I've been to Venice quite a few times, and I must admit that it's getting boring: seeing the same things over and over again. So I decided to stay in Quarto D'Altino and cycle around town. I love the Italian landscape: the beautiful houses, vineyards, trees and little cafe's. I got a mountainbike from the hotel and cycled to another town as well, but forgot about the name. The weather that day was amazing: blue skies and lots of sunshine. Temperatures around 7 degrees, but with the sun it even felt a bit warmer!

And while I was enjoying a lovely pizza together with the first officer, I recieved quite an interesting e-mail: we were supposed to leave the next morning, but our flight got canceled due to the snow in the Netherlands. We had a complete extra day to spend in Venice! In stead of departing the 26th, we departed the 27th! More about my extra day in Venice soon, but first my pictures from Quarto D'Altino!

FLYING: Venetië

We arrived with sunshine, blue skies and 8 degrees yesterday. My three day trip started in Glasgow where I had the best anti pasti ever. Know Jamie Oliver? He has his own restaurant, make sure to pay a visit when you're in the UK! Anyway, also did a little bit of shopping... which wasn't planned, but when I noticed the huge Primark they have over there, I couldn't resist.

Yesterday we arrived around noon in Venice. Like I said before, beautiful weather. And so 80% of my pictures turned out to be almost perfect (to me at least). We strolled around, all the way from the trainstation via the rialto bridge to the San Marco square. With some little pitstops every now and then for the necessary antipasti and red wine. And when we reached San Marco, it was all covered in a thick layer of fog. Was strange to see and it turned out to be pretty cold. But the day was amazing, we had a lot of fun and when we got back at the hotel (which is located in a village close to Venice) we had the best pizza ever. I took lots of pictures, enjoy!

FLYING: Kerst in Bologna

From -10 degrees in Trondheim to a foggy +5 degrees in Bologna. We arrived around noon in Bologna on the 25th of december, first day of christmas. I made a reservation in a well known italian restaurant Vicolo Colombina for a delicious christmas lunch.

It was a 20 minute walk from the hotel to the restaurant, and the streets were basically empty. No cars or busses, just a few people strolling around. The main square in Bologna (with a special fountain, check my pictures below) was a bit more crowded. There was a huge christmas tree, but it was not a very beautiful one.

For the lunch we started with some italian goodies: parma ham, parmazan cheese and other delicious meats to share. My first course was the famous 'tagliatella bolognese', from Bologna of course. As a main dish, I had the restaurants special 'christmas' dish: sausages with veggies and mashed potatoes. It was a lot of delicious food, combined with a nice red wine. It was a perfect, relaxed christmas afternoon. We ended the day with a drink in the hotel room, since it was quite cold outside. Perfect christmas, and luckily my crew was amazing! Thanks again guys. This trip will definitely make it to my top 3 list of best trips for work!

FLYING: Venetië

A cold and rainy saturday afternoon in Venice, Italy. The city was pretty much empty, I think everybody stayed inside. I went together with the co-pilot, who wasn't afraid of the rain. There is nothing which I hate more than spending a complete day in my hotel room without seeing any daylight. I always need to go outside, rain or no rain. So the co-pilot joined me and we spent the afternoon at a christmas market and an Irish pub in Venice, close to the rialto bridge. At six we took the boat bus back to the central station and somewhere around 7.30PM we were back at the hotel. We got ourselves a lovely pizza and had a very nice diner in the room. Such a lovely day, despite of the rain. Venice is just so pretty!

FLYING: Bologna

Well hello my dear little sweethears,
I hope you are all fine. It has been a while, again, I know and I'm sorry for that. I was on reserve duty and they called me out every day of my 5 day week. And with the snowfall in the Netherlands, things didn't go as planned. But they nightstops were okay and the crew was great as well.

They called me for just a single flight to Bologna and only back to Amsterdam the next day, that was a luxurious trip for me! I hardly ever do just 1 flight a day, most of the time 2, 3 or 4. So in Bologna we had a little get-together in the hotel room. The next morning I got a call that our pick up time was delayed and so I had an hour extra to spend in my favorite Italian city. I decided to go out and ran into a small christmas market at a square close to our hotel. I strolled around and enjoyed the beautiful bright sky and the comfortable temperature of something around 10 degrees celcius (that's not too bad for this time of the year).

And fortunately I'll be going back to Bologna SOON. I'm there on the 25th of december (christmas) and still looking for a restaurant which is actually open. Do you dolls have tips for me maybe? See you soon!

FLYING: Bologna

I don't think I've ever explained how much I love Italy, right? No, just kidding. When you look at my previous posts, you can defenitely tell how much I adore it! And thank goodness for Bologna on my roster, AGAIN! Yes I've been there quite alot this summer. So why not share my pictures?

P.s: Don't forget to enter my giveaway!

FLYING: Bologna

Remember I told you about my luxurious 5 day trip for work? I started in Munich and went the next day to one of my all-time favorite destinations: Bologna.

I just LOVE Italy. The people, the fashion, the temperatures, the buildings, the streets and not to forget: the FOOD. Everything is so delicious! Well if you click here you can see my previous Bologna trips. This time I had plenty of time so we decided to have a big lunch in the well-known-amoung-locals restaurant 'Draghoria Della Rossa'.

After a delicious 3 course lunch with the best red wine I've had in a long, long time, we went into the city center and to the park. Enjoying the summer sun and the almost empty city. Since Bologna is a typical student town, most of them go to the beaches during the hottest season of the year. So we basically had Bologna for ourselves.

FLYING: Shopping in Bologna

There are many reasons to go to Italy. The food, the drinks, the people, the weather, the landscapes and one of the main reasons for me: the fashion and the shops.

When I see Bologna on my roster, my heart makes a little jump. The city itself is really big (in my opinion) with lots of amazing shops in all different price ranges. From the high fashion via zara and h&m to the local market in the weekends: there is something for everybody! Also, why not going into one of the little food and drink shops for some pure italian cuisine at home? I always bring some parmigiano cheese for at home.

Anyway, back to the fashion. The main reason why I love the spanish/italian/french brands is that they've got the perfect size for me. It's extremely hard for me to find the perfect jeans, dress or pants (usually everything is too big in the Netherlands). And the most difficult thing for me to shop is lingerie! Yes, I was not in the front of the queue when God handed out the boobs to everybody. So God gave me Italy, and in particular Intimissimi.

When you don't count the little food and wine shops, Intimissimi is by far the best shop to visit in Bologna, to me at least. I always have to buy a new bra or some panties. The prices are okay, the quality is perfect and the lingerie itself is so beautiful and comfortable and it fits PERFECTLY (which to me is a gift from heaven!) For the bra which you see in the picture above I paid 25.90 euro. That's really a good price for such a perfect bra!

And check out their new spring collection. Such a beautiful video!

And NO dear readers, this post is not sponsored! How I wish it was! I would love to own every single bra they have in their store. But I just want to let you know about my favorite store!
