Spring in Aix en Provence

It makes me smile when I see a nightstop in Marseille on my roster. We actually don't spend the night in Marseille, but in Aix en Provence. A small village just outside Marseille.

It was a year ago when I went to Aix for the first time. It was a very special nightstop, it was not only my first nightstop as a qualified cabin attendant, it was also the place where I met my boyfriend. We had a tea in a little cafe and he showed me the city. So when I think of Aix, I think of good memories, and new memories to make!

The thing I love the most about Aix is probably the weather and the french 'vibe'. The city itself is quite old and medieval. I usually spend my day in one of the restaurants at La Rotonde (the big roundabout in Aix), enjoying a good wine and a lovely lunch/dinner.

And if you love to stroll around the streets, try to look and count the fountians! Aix is known for it's 'healing' water and that's why there are so many fountains!

From 'La Rotonde' you can walk to cours Mirabeau, which is actually a long boulevard bordered with symmetrical plane-trees and with dozens of cool cafe's, restaurants and bars flanking it. Walk the whole length and you go from the old part of the city to the new part.

If you like shopping, Aix has also quite a lot to offer: the well known brands like Levi's, Zara, Mango, H&M and some little boutiques. I love to go to 'L'Occitane', which is a brand from the provence selling soap, cremes and other goodies. When you like to go out during the night, go to club 'Le Mistral', for some good music and lovely cocktails.

When you're NOT hold back by a tight budget, you should definitely go to Le Clos de la Violette, which has an awesome reputation. And when you're up for some fresh veggies, visit the local farmers market at 'Marché Place Richelme'.

In Aix en Provence, I usually follow a strict regimen of food, walk, coffee and pastries, walk, wine, walk. And repeat it as necessary for the upcomming visits.
