FLYING: Nice

As you probably already know by now I work as a flight attendant and thanks to my job I'm able to see the most beautiful places in Europe (check out my travel guide on top of my blog). A few weeks ago I had a really nice layover in Nice, France where I enjoyed a nice little diner and walk with the crew. The weather was beyond perfection: almost 20 degrees and it was very crowded on the streets. After a pizza on a cute french square we walked to the beach and topped it of with some icecream. Perfect night in the french riviera and oh oh, I love Nice and all the little villages around it.

FLYING: Monaco

Hi allemaal!

Gotta love the south of france!

Hi all!

Spring has sprung in the Netherlands, love it! But last week, when the skies were grey in the lower lands of Holland, I was lucky enough to have a layover in Nice (I work as a flight attendant). And from there I took the train to the beautiful and surreal Monaco!

It was just a 10 to 15 minute trainride, but as soon as you disembark you're in a completely different world. Beautiful, extremely expensive boats, amazing apartments and a really cool casino: Monaco has it all. It really is the lifestyle of the rich and famous, a fairytale world itself. Too good to be true and especially very surreal and unrealistic. I could and would never afford anything you can find there. But it is a lot of fun to see though!

We walked through the famous 'formula 1' tunnel, along the expensive boats and we absolutely loved the famous casino (from the James bond movie). Besides that we walked up to the castle to enjoy the magnificent view. Gotta love the south of France!

FLYING: Nice

Hallo lieve allemaal,

Hi dear all,

Last week I had my so called 'reserve duty'. Once every 6 weeks we have a week (5 days) of standby where the company can call us for a flight for 12 hours a day. In case they need me for a flight, I need to be at the airport within one hour.

The first day of reserve duty was nice and relaxed, no phonecalls whatsoever. But during the second day they called me at the end of the day for a 4 day trip with layovers in Nice, Lyon and Sandefjord Torp. A lot of flights, but there was a little bit of time to relax as well. In Nice I had a very short stop, I arrived very late in the evening and pick up time the next day was 11.30 AM.

I woke up early and went outside after breakfast to wander around in the old city of Nice. I walked towards the beach and back via the beautiful park to the hotel. It was the perfect morning and it's very relaxed to walk for a bit just before a long day at work with 4 flights. Anyway, I'm wearing a dress which I found in the thriftstore a few weeks ago. It was just 4 euros and it's originally from Warehouse and exactly my size! What do you think?

FLYING: Beaulieu Sur Mer

Hi sweethearts,

Remember I told you about my nighstop in Nice? I spend the morning in Nice, but during the afternoon I took the train to Beaulieu sur mer, mainly because I wanted to see Saint Jean Cap Ferrat.

There wasn't enough time to see Cap Ferrat completely, but I definitely enjoyed my afternoon with walking around and watching the people and the beautiful houses. I love the south of France and would love to have my own french house over there. I found a magazine with beautiful french houses: way too expensive but hey, a girl can dream, right?

FLYING: Nice

Hi sweethearts,

Remember I told you life as a flight attendant is not always unicorns and rainbows? Well: I flew to Nice a couple of weeks ago and that very long day off in the south of France helped me to realise and remember how amazing my job actually is!

I haven't been to Nice in ages, the last time I was there was in the old airport hotel, during my birthday. Since then, the company moved us to another hotel in the citycenter: pretty perfect. So it was the very first time for me to see the new hotel and the new area and I absolutely love it! It's super close to all the good places and the old center!

And with 30 degrees celcius it was the perfect day to enjoy the rooftop pool. But I decided to do something different: I woke up early to climb up to the Castle Hill to enjoy the best view! Afterwards I strolled around in the old city before I took the train to the beach. More about the beach later, first my pictures of Nice!

FLYING: Verjaardag in Nice

I requested a nightstop in Bologna on my birthday, but since that was impossible for rostering to do, I went to Nice on the 24th of april and one day later to Bologna. We arrived around 5PM and went directly to the beach. We had a birthday cocktail at a beach club (thanks to my collegues) and afterwards we had a lovely diner in the harbour.

We watched the sunset and the moonrise while enjoying the 20 degrees celcius spring weather. It was a beautiful evening and I really enjoyed the my birthday in Nice. However, due to the short stop, we decided to have a really good diner the next day in Bologna. More about that later! Hope you enjoy my pictures.

FLYING: Saint Tropez and Port Grimaud

In moments like these, I feel so lucky... Because of my job I can visit the most amazing places in Europe. And while we don't always have a lot of time to spend, we sure as hell make the most out of it!

Nice was the 4th nightstop in my 5 day trip. And while the other days were filled with delays, arriving late and lots of flights, this day was different: we arrived around noon in Nice. And so we rented a small car and drove for an hour and a half to Saint Tropez. I went together with the first officer and captain, both were a lot of fun. Saint Tropez is just a small but amazing place to visit. Pretty boats, great buildings and because it's so small is really cute! It's the place for the rich and famous.

After a delicious lunch in the harbor, we climbed up a hill and enjoyed the stunning view. It was beyond amazing. On our way back, we stopped at 'Port Grimaud', also a little village which reminds me alot of Venice. Little bridges, cute canals and lots of overpriced boats!

The pictures are in chronological order: from Saint Tropez to Port Grimaud. Hope you enjoy them but be aware because I made lots of pictures!

FLYING: Nice

I can't believe how lucky I am: two days in Nice in a row with plenty of time! So we packed our stuff and hopped on the shuttle bus directly to the beach of Saint Laurent Du Var.

We rented some sunbeds and had a relaxed day in the sun. Eating, drinking, swimming and relaxing: the key words for our day. The food was delicious (yet not very healty) and the drinks were necessary. Every now and then we went into the sea to cool down.

Around sunset we had a great diner at the beach. Again, not healthy but the ambiance was amazing and I truly had one of the best nightstops in a long time! My crew was great and I loved this little place next to Nice. It was also a lot of fun to see our colleagues depart from the runway which was like in front of us.

FLYING: Nice

Two weeks ago I had some kind of mini holiday thanks to work. I usually do 3 to 4 flights a day, but this time I had a wonderfull 5 day trip. The first day I started with 3 flights, the next three days only 2 flights a day and the last day 3 flights again. Which means that I had lots of time in the hotel. Or in my case: at the beach!

You already saw my nightstop in Munich, that was my first stop. The next day I went to Bologna, Italy. We arrived around 12PM in the afternoon! I'll show you Bologna later, but I wanted to show you Nice first, where I spend the last two days in a row. Both of the days we arrived before noon and went directly to the beach. A while ago our company decided that we are going to another hotel. An airport hotel...

When I first heard about us moving to an airport hotel, I felt quite sad. I loved our old hotel in the citycenter of Nice! But after visiting this place, I totally changed my mind. It's just 5 minutes away from the beach (Saint Laurent du Var) which is perfect during the summer. I'm not sure what the winter is going to be like, but we'll just have to figure that out.

A couple of weeks ago I had a great nightstop in Nice with plenty of time. We rented a scooter and went to Monaco to enjoy a glimps of the rich and famous. I actually enjoyed the ride to Monaco more than Monaco itself. It was extremely beautiful. The sky was clear and the sun was shining. It was around 20 degrees, so wearing a blazer was enough on the scooter. When we got back in the evening we went to an amazing restaurant: la bella excuse. I had a lovely pasta dish. This was one of the best days on route since I started as a cabin attendant. :)

And yet another day in Nice. With plenty of time there, we spend the day drinking wine at the beach, swimming and dining. It was such a lovely, relaxing day. While we have absolutely no summer at all in the Netherlands, I'm pretty glad that I have the opportunity to go to warm places every now and then.

Finally some time to update my blog! These pictures are from last week. I've been flying and moving for the last two weeks and spend my nights in Bologna, Frankfurt, Nice, Liverpool and ofcourse my homebase Haarlem. And right now I'm writing from Linkoping. Unfortunately I didn't had alot of time in Nice, so again I went on my own into the citycenter to enjoy the early morning sun. Nice is defenitely one of my favourite destinations. In two weeks I'm going there again, but than I do have a lot of time to spend there actually. So I might go to cannes or monaco. What would you do?

And some pictures of nice during the day. Although it was really cloudy, I was able to wear shorts. It was very warm, about 26 degrees in the morning! I went out for an early walk to the beach and walked around at the old square as well. Have you ever been in Nice? And do you have some tips for me? I'm going to Nice again in about a week :)

I'm home right now, home as in the Netherlands. I was supposed to nightstop in Bologna last night, but went home after having tremendous pain in both ears and having a sore throat. Went to see a docter and got home afterwards. A few days rest should help is what he told me, so I'm taking his advice ;) Anyway, I had a couple of really nice nightstops and these pictures are from Nice, France. I was there friday night and saturday morning. We went out looking for a salsabar (I'm taking salsaclasses and wanted to practice) but unfortunately friday night wasn't a very good salsanight in Nice. So we ended up in wayne's bar. There was live music, people dancing on tables and it was alot of fun! Defenitely a must-see when you visit Nice. Lot's of backpackers as well ;)
