Two weeks ago I had a beautiful 24 hour layover in Geneva, Switzerland, thanks to my job as a flight attendant (hence the name of this post; 'stewardess stories'). I arrived somewhere around noon and departed the next day at noon as well. Our hotel is located at the airport but we do get tramtickets for free to go into the citycenter. It's just 15 minutes away by public transport. Together with the rest of the crew I discovered this beautiful city. It was my first time in Geneva.
Geneva is the largest french speaking city in Switzerland and is well known for the huge fountain in the lake. It's called Jet d'Eau and when in Geneva you can't miss it. It pumps the water 140m up in the air and can be seen from the aircraft whilst flying into Geneva as well. We had lovely temperatures (30 degrees celcius) during our layover and wandered around in the old town where we also had our dinner. Geneva is truly beautiful and is home to so many expensive brands. Dankzij mijn werk als stewardess kom ik op de leukste plaatsen in Europa. Oslo is een relatief nieuwe bestemming voor ons. Voorheen vlogen wij er ook naartoe maar sliepen we er nooit. Tot enkele maanden geleden want Oslo is nu voor ons een zogenaamde "nachtstop bestemming". Ik arriveerde rond 2 uur in de middag in het hotel en werd pas de volgende dag om 5 uur in de ochtend opgehaald. Tijd voor een wandeling door deze prachtige Noorse stad!
Zoals de meesten van jullie al wel weten ben ik stewardess. Op dit moment vlieg ik alleen europa en sinds vorig jaar heeft mijn maatschappij er een leuke nieuwe bestemming bij: Bilbao. Het is gelegen in het noord-westen van Spanje en de grootste stad van de regio "baskenland". Daarnaast ligt het aan de rivier Nervión en aan een van de pelgrimsroutes naar Santiago de Compostella. Belangrijkste toeristische trekpleister? Bilbao heeft haar eigen Guggenheim museum.
Ik was dan ook dankbaar en zeer blij dat ik Bilbao op mijn rooster zag verschijnen. Daarnaast had ik er ook nog eens een goede stop; ik kwam rond 11 uur aan in de avond en had de volgende dag pas om 16.15 pickup om terug te vliegen naar Amsterdam. Dat betekende een hele ochtend én middag in Bilbao! Kijken jullie mee naar mijn fotoverslag van deze prachtige spaanse stad?
Two weeks ago I posted something about a layover in Aalborg thanks to my job as a flight attendant. Just a few days later I was back, with a different crew and the same amount of time (we arrived early in the morning around 11AM and had pickup the next day at 5AM). The weather was again truly amazing and our cockpit crew came up with the idea to rent a car.
And so we did, we rented a car and drove all the way up north to the most northerly point of Denmark: Skagen. This beautiful city is also the name of stylish danish watches, but we were more into the views. The city itself was so cute with all the yellow colored houses. We had some fish at the harbor and drove a little bit further to the actual most northern part: the beach. So beautiful however it was supercold. Hence our scarfs and freezing faces. Afterwards we drove back to the south but we just had to pass the city of Aars. Why, could you ask. Well, "aars" means "buthole" in the Netherlands (pardon my french) and we thought it was just hilarious to take a photo with the sign Aars. Hope you enjoy the photos :)
As most of you already know I'm working as a flight attendant and thanks to my job I'm visiting the most awesome places in europe. When I see a layover in Toulouse on my roster I'm always happy since I absolutely love this place. It's great for shopping, wandering around, cycling, picknicks and relaxing. Toulouse has some awesome restaurants too, but unfortunately they all open at 7PM which is a bit late for me since I have to wake up the next morning at 4AM. So I usually have some tourist food (mcdonalds) or a late lunch when I'm in france.
Despite the alltime restaurant opening time problems I enjoy myself to the max. This time I wandered around together with my fellow cabincrew member and a cockpit colleague and we enjoyed our walk in Jardin des Plantes, which is such a beautiful and relaxed parc! Ideal for summer days and picknicks. We also went to the riverside where we had a nice little afternoon wine. After our stroll we sat in a parc close to our and had some lebanese takeaway food. Life is good enroute!
Together with many other destinations in Norway, Alesund it in my ultimate favorite layover destination list. Basically all the hotels in Norway are beyond good; always healthy eating options, awesome beds, clean bathrooms and well equiped gyms. Not to forget the beautiful views you have everywhere. Norway is just really, really pretty. Don't forget to check out my previous layovers in Alesund. Anyway, these photos were taken a week ago, when I was on a luxurious 4 day trip thanks to my job as a flight attendant. We arrived a bit late (around 5PM) but since it was still very light outside, I wandered around for a while to take some photos. I hope you enjoy them :)
It has been quite a while since I last posted something about my job as a flight attendant. I've been on a nice 4 day trip last week with a layover in Aalborg and I finally decided to take my camera with me again during my nightstops! Back in the days I posted something about my job at least once a week, and categorized them under 'flying'. Anyway, Aalborg is a nice little city in Denmark, about 50 flying minutes from Amsterdam. You can cycle, wander around and shop. We usually eat at a thai restaurant named Thai Garden. I took some pictures since the weather was pretty amazing with blue skies and beautiful clouds. Bonjour allemaal en welkom vanuit het prachtige Bordeaux, Frankrijk. Samen met mijn vriendinnetje Wendy hadden we een heerlijke werkweek in europa dankzij onze baan als stewardess. In onze week hadden we een prima nachtstopje in Bordeaux, toch wel de mooiste Franse stad van ons route netwerk. Ik vind het altijd heerlijk om er rond te lopen in de smalle straatjes, een beetje winkeltjes te kijken en natuurlijk te genieten van een heerlijke rode wijn (bordeaux natuurlijk!). We kwamen rond het middaguur aan dus perfect voor een late lunch en meer dan genoeg tijd om de stad te ontdekken. We moesten natuurlijk ook een beetje shoppen, want Bordeaux is daar ook echt perfect voor! Ik hoop dat jullie de foto's mooi vinden!

We also had a great layover in Bordeaux, which is the most beautiful french city in our route network. I always enjoy wandering around in the small streets, windowshopping and enjoying a nice good red wine (a bordeaux ofcourse!). We arrived around noon so perfect for a late lunch and time enough to discover this beautiful city. We also did a bit of shopping too, since the shops in Bordeaux are close to perfect. Welkom in Linköping, Zweden. Dankzij mijn baan als stewardess kom ik op de mooiste en gekste plekjes van europa. Van Linköping had ik voordat ik begon met vliegen uiteraard nog nooit gehoord, maar het is een heerlijke stad! Bovendien had ik de mazzel dat ik met mijn oude klasgenootje en vriendinnetje Wendy mocht vliegen, wat het uiteraard nog leuker maakt! In Linköping hebben we lekker geluncht, gewandeld en zijn we met de cockpitcrew naar de 'oude' stad gelopen, waar nog echt oude huisjes staan. Superleuk om te bezoeken, al is het best een eindje wandelen! Ik heb wat foto's gemaakt en ik hoop dat jullie ze leuk vinden :)

Welcome to Linköping, Sweden. Thanks to my job as a flight attendant I'm able to see the most beautiful and intresting places in europe. Before I started flying, I have never heard of a city like Linköping, but it's such a great city! Besides that I was lucky enough to fly with my old classmate and friend Wendy, which makes our job even better! We had a nice lunch in Linköping and wandered around for a while. Together with our cockpit crew we walked to the 'old' city of Linköping, where they have really old houses and other buildings. Was super fun to see, but quite a long walk! I took some pictures which I hope you enjoy :)
Laat me je meenemen door de straten van Florence, Italië. Een prachtige stad, vaak overbevolkt door toeristen maar op een prachtige nazomerdag als deze viel het nog wel mee. Dankzij mijn werk als stewardess vlieg ik heel europa door en kom ik in de mooiste steden. Standaard in mijn trolley zit mijn camera, welke ik trouw meesleep naar elke nachtstop. Het was een heerlijke dag, we kwamen rond het middaguur aan en besloten eerst wat te gaan lunchen. Gezien de warmte die dag besloot ik voor een 'lichte' pasta te gaan; raw spaghetti met een heerlijke guacamole saus (vreemd maar lekker!). Na de lunch struinden we door de smalle straten, langs de grote toeristische attracties en dronken we een lekker glaasje fris in een lokaal tentje. Al met al een heerlijke dag in het prachtige Florence. Zijn jullie er wel eens geweest?

Let me take you with me during a nightstop in Florence, Italy. A beautiful city, most of the time overcrowded by tourists but on a nice late summer day it was pretty do-able. Thanks to my job as a flight attendant I am able to see the most beautiful cities in Europe. One of my main items in my carry on luggage is my camera, which I bring along during every nightstop. It was a beautiful day; we arrived around noon and had some lunch first. Since it was pretty warm that day I went for a 'raw pasta' with a delicious guacamole sauce (it sounds strange but it was damn tasty!). After lunch we wandered around in the small streets, along the main tourist sights and we had a delicious soda in a local restaurant. It was a good, good day in beautiful Florence. Have you ever been there?
Tijdens een heerlijke zonnige dag in Gothenburg hebben we het trammetje gepakt richting de meertjes en de bossen om daar lekker te picknicken. Even de drukke stad ontvluchten na 4 vluchten in de ochtend is soms best wel nodig. Mijn collega's gingen nog even zwemmen (mij te koud!) maar genieten was het wel. Ik vind Gothenburg altijd wel leuk, alleen heb niet vaak mooi weer daar gehad, maar zoals je ziet hadden we vandaag best geluk!

During a lovely summer day in Gothenburg we took a tram to the lakes and the woods to relax and pickknick. After a busy morning with 4 flights we always love to escape the citycenter to enjoy the nature. My colleagues went swimming (too cold for me) but I really had a lovely time. I really like Gothenburg, unfortunately I wasn't always really lucky with the weather. But as you can see, today was pretty good :)
Eindelijk weer eens een nachtstop verslag, dit keer van Bordeaux! Inmiddels alweer een maand geleden, maar de foto's zijn het waard om alsnog te laten zien. Het was een heerlijke nachtstop, we kwamen vroeg in de middag aan en na een heerlijke lunch besloten we nog even rond te wandelen. Ik houd van Bordeaux, de gebouwen zijn prachtig! We zijn ook nog even een wijnwinkel ingewandeld, wat een collectie! Van heel goedkoop tot flessen van 2500 euro per stuk. De winkel zelf was ook echt prachtig, om een trap heen waren al de wijnen uitgestald. Plaatje!

Finally time for another layover post, this time Bordeaux! It has been a while, but the photos are worth showing. The layover was amazing, we arrived early in the afternoon and after a delicious lunch we wandered around in the old city. I love Bordeaux, the buildings are beyond amazing. We also went to a wine shop, they have an amazing collection! From cheap bottles to 2500 euro. The shop itself was beautiful, around the stairs were all the bottles all the way up. Pretty!
Vorige week had ik een mooi tripje. Ik begon mijn week in Alesund, ging door naar Lyon waar ik twee dagen verbleef en eindigde mijn trip in Hannover. Alles met heel veel tijd op bestemming, super luxe! (ik werk als stewardess) Mijn crew was leuk, het weer was heerlijk en ik besloot dat het weer eens tijd was om erop uit te gaan. Beide dagen in Lyon hebben we heerlijk geluncht op van die kleine, schattige pleintjes. Ze hebben er een nieuwe fietstunnel gebouwd, waardoor je gemakkelijker in de stad kan komen.
De tweede dag in Lyon zijn mijn collega en ik naar het bekende park gefietst waar we nog heerlijk in het zonnetje hebben gezeten. Het was echt de perfecte middag; lekker gegeten, sportief de stad door gefietst en vervolgens lekker op een grasveldje gezeten en genoten van het prachtige weer (28 graden!). Ik hou echt van Lyon.
English translation Last week I had a very nice trip. I started my week in Alesund, continued to Lyon where I stayed for two nights and ended my trip in Hannover. All my trips had a lot of time on the destination which was very luxurious. (I'm working as a flight attendant) My crew was lovely, the weather was amazing and I decided it was time to go out and about. Both of the days in Lyon we enjoyed a great lunch at one of the many cute squares. Recently they have builded a new cycling tunnel which makes it very easy to enter the citycenter.
On the second day in Lyon my colleague and I cycled to the well known park where we enjoyed the lovely weather. It really was the perfect afternoon, delicious lunch, cycling through town and chilling in the local park. It was super warm that day, 28 degrees. Men I love Lyon.
First of all I would like to thank you very much for the sweet words. My mum is still in the hospital working hard on her recovery and hopefully next week she will be going home. I really miss her alot, the house is very empty without her. She is also the one who photographs all my outfits, therefor the lack of updates on this blog. I can't describe how much I love her and how much I want her to get better. And when she's home, my brother and I bought her a lovely suprise which we hope she'll love.
After a busy week I'm now flying for 5 days, first nightstop in Alesund. Not alot of time though, but that's allright. I try to relax a little bit and work on my blog. These photos are from last week, when I was in Bologna, one of my favorite cities. It's also the day my mum went to the hospital. Sometimes my job as a flight attendant is not a lot of fun when you want to go home quickly but you can't. Anyway, I'm wearing a thrifted top and shorts and my cute shoes are from Flossy. What do you think?
Zoals jullie onderhand wel weten werk ik dus als stewardess en kom ik daardoor op best wat leuke plaatsen in Europa (zie mijn travel guide bovenin). Zo had ik laatst een leuke avond in Nice, Frankrijk waar ik gezellig met de crew heb gegeten en heb rondgewandeld. Het was heerlijk weer, bijna 20 graden en het was lekker druk en gezellig op straat. Na een pizza op een pleintje liepen we naar het strand om nog een ijsje te scoren. Perfecte avond in de franse Riviera want oh oh, wat houd ik van Nice (en omstreken vooral).

As you probably already know by now I work as a flight attendant and thanks to my job I'm able to see the most beautiful places in Europe (check out my travel guide on top of my blog). A few weeks ago I had a really nice layover in Nice, France where I enjoyed a nice little diner and walk with the crew. The weather was beyond perfection: almost 20 degrees and it was very crowded on the streets. After a pizza on a cute french square we walked to the beach and topped it of with some icecream. Perfect night in the french riviera and oh oh, I love Nice and all the little villages around it.
24 April was ik jarig, 25 werd ik die dag. En zoals altijd was ik aan het werk. Dit keer ook expres, want ik had een reis aangevraagd met de gedachte om mijn moeder mee te nemen. Ik kreeg een super goede nachtstop in Trondheim, Noorwegen en we zouden al om 12 uur 's middags in het hotel aankomen.
Dus boekte ik het ticket en mijn moeder ging voor de allereerste keer met mij mee. Ik werd al drie jaar bij dit bedrijf, maar het was er nog niet van gekomen. Het was zo leuk! Mijn moeder vond het helemaal te gek en ze mocht de landing in Trondheim meemaken in de cockpit. Ook op de terugweg naar Amsterdam zat ze in de cockpit, super! In Trondheim hadden we ook echt de tijd van ons leven. Ik liet haar de stad zien en nam haar daarna mee in het trammetje de bergen in, om te genieten bij een bevroren meer. Het was prachtig weer, strakblauw en 17 graden, heerlijk! Tijdens de zonsondergang genoten we van een lekker diner in de skybar van ons hotel, met uitzicht op de fjorden. Dit was by far mijn beste verjaardag!

The 24th of april was my birthday, I turned 25 that day. And as always I was working. But this time I specially requested a trip because I wanted to take my mum with me. On my roster was a beautiful layover in Trondheim, Norway, where we would arrive at noon.
So I booked the ticket for my mum and she joined me on my flight for the very first time. I'm working as a flight attendant now for over three years, but finally it was the time to take her with me. It was so much fun and my mother absolutely loved it. During the landing in Trondheim she sat in the cockpit, an experience she will never forget. In Trondheim we had an absolutely fabulous time, I showed her the beautiful city and took her to a frozen lake. The weather was also beautiful: blue skies and 17 degrees, I couldn't have wished for moer. We enjoyed a lovely diner during the sunset in the hotels skybar. This was by far my best birthday.
Een aantal dagen geleden had ik een heerlijke nachtstop in Alesund (ik ben stewardess). Het weer was prachtig; strakblauwe lucht en nog best aan de warme kant ook met zo'n 16 graden. Hoewel we redelijk laat op de dag aankwamen, zo rond 17.00 uur, besloten we toch nog even naar buiten te gaan.
We beklommen de bekende berg in Alesund met het panoramische uitzicht over de stad. Het was een behoorlijk klim maar alles meer dan waard. Helaas was het nog wel te vroeg voor de zonsondergang, maar het uitzicht was alsnog prachtig. Na ons klim avontuur daalden we weer af voor een heerlijk diner in de stad. Vervolgens liepen we terug naar het hotel waar we de zon in de zee hebben zien zakken. Alesund is echt te gek! Zijn jullie er wel eens geweest?

A few dags ago I had a wonderful layover in Alesund (I'm a flight attendant). The weather was amazing: blue skies and pretty warm as well, with a nice 16 degrees celcius. We arrived a bit late (around 17.00pm), but we went outside anyway.
We climbed up the mountain in Alesund with a panoramic view over the citycenter. It was quite a challenge, climbing up, but most definitely worth it! Unfortunately it was still too early for the sunset, but the view was beyond amazing. After our adventure we walked down to the citycenter for a lovely diner. Afterwards while walking back to the hotel we saw the sunset and it was breathtaking. Have you already been to Alesund?
Een tijdje geleden had ik een heerlijk lange nachtstop in Nice (ik werk als stewardess). Na een leuke avond in Wayne's bar besloten we de volgende dag de trein te pakken naar Beaulieu sur Mer en vervolgens terug te wandelen naar Villefrance sur Mer. Stiekem ben ik echt heel erg gek op de Cote D'Azur, heerlijk en mooi al die kleine baaitjes en luxe huizen. Ik kijk mijn ogen uit!
Deze foto's heb ik allemaal met mijn telefoon gemaakt, een samsung galaxy S4. Ik neem helaas niet zo vaak mijn spiegelreflex meer mee, het is te zwaar, maar de camera van mijn telefoon voldoet meer dan prima. Zijn jullie hier wel eens geweest?

A while ago I had an amazing layover/nightstop in Nice (I'm working as a flight attendant). After a fun night out in Wayne's bar we decided to wake up early and took the train to Beaulieu sur Mer. We walked all the way back to Villefrance Sur Mer. I must admit that I truly love the Cote D'Azur, the small beaches and luxurious houses are so beautiful.
These photos are all from my phone, a samsung galaxy s4. Unfortunately my DSRL is very heavy to take with my while flying, but I am very pleased with the photos from my phone.
Trondheim is een van mijn meest favoriete bestemmingen (ik werk als stewardess). En onlangs heeft het bedrijf ons verhuisd naar een nieuw hotel vlak bij de haven. Mijn kamer had werkelijk een fantastisch uitzicht op de fjorden en de gym die het hotel heeft is echt gigantisch!
Noorwegen blijft mooi, de natuur is zo prachtig en de mensen zo lief! Iedereen spreekt goed engels en daarnaast hebben de meeste echt wel gevoel voor stijl! Dus ik vind het altijd heerlijk om even een dag in dat prachtige land te zijn. Na twee uur in de gym te zijn geweest ben ik nog even tijdens zonsondergang een rondje buiten wezen wandelen. Wat een prachtig helder weer, te gek voor foto's! Ik heb namelijk een nieuwe telefoon, een samsung galaxy s4 en zoals je begrijpt moest de camera even uitgetest worden. Ik hoop dat je de foto's mooi vind :)

Trondheim is one of my favorite destinations (I work as a flight attendant). Recently our company has changed our hotel to one which is close to the harbor. My room had the most magnificent view over the fjords and the gym in the hotel is gigantic! It's huuuuuge!
Norway is such a beautiful country: the nature is amazing and the people are very sweet. I think all the people speak english very well and besides that the norwegians do have a great sense of style! So I always love to nightstop in Norway. After two hours in the gym I went outside to shoot pictures during the sunset. The weather was beautiful: bright blue skies, amazing for photos! I have a new phone, a samsung galaxy s4 and as you may understand I wanted to test the camera. So I hope you enjoy the pictures :-)
