Lately I am much more into healthy food and I'm also reading alot of books about healthy food as well, my favorite is Powerfood by Rens Kroes, she has the best recipes! The boy and I tried to make our own healthy granola in order to bring some variety in our standard breakfast menu. This granola recipe is delicious with all sorts of yoghurt (or soja products) and is superhealthy AND easy.
Why making your own granola
It's not only way cheaper than buying healthy muesli or cruesli in the supermarkets, it also makes your home smell absolutely delicious! You know what kind of ingredients you have used which gives you a better feeling (at least, it gives ME a better feeling, knowing what's inside). Besides that, it's so simple, you hardly can't do anything wrong!
Ingredients
- 300gr Rolled oats
- 200gr Nuts (hazelnuts, walnuts, almonds, pumpkin seeds)
- 55gr Coconut flakes
- 6tl Oil (sunflower or olive)
- 6tl Honey
- 150gr dried cranberry's
Recipe
Preheat the oven at 170 degrees celcius. Chop all your nuts and make them smaller. Mix the nuts, the rolled oats, honey, coconut flakes and oil all together in a bowl and put it into the oven for about 30 minutes. Every 10 minutes you have to shuffle and mix. After 30 minutes you take the granola out of your oven and let it cool for about one hour. Afterwards you can add the cranberries when the mixture is cooled down.
How to enjoy it
This granola recipe is good for about 10-15 times. You can keep the granola for app. 2 weeks in a jar. I got my jar at the budgetstore Action (The Netherlands) but you can find yours at any home department store. Mix your granola with any sort of yoghurt (I prefer vanilla) and don't forget to top it off with some fresh fruits! Enjoy and let me know what you think :)
Looks delicious! :)
