To be honest, I feel a little bit sad about leaving Pai. It's so wonderfull here. On our last full day here, we took our scooter into the mountains to visit one of the most beautiful waterfalls. Bye Pai, it was beyond amazing! We'll see you again!
During our last day in Pai we decided to visit one more waterfall. After a tip from Noi, the owner of our resort, we went to Hao Chang waterfall, one which you can't find on the map. It's about 10kms from the resort and we went with the scooter offroad for about 5kms, which took very long due to the bad and wet road. We were told that we had to cross a stream about 14 times, and we left the motorbike behind at stream number 4. Instead of 14 times, we had to cross the stream 20 times before we arrived at the waterfall. The last two kilometers from our hike were a bit heavy. A real jungle hike! But it was worth the journey because the waterfall is beautiful! It looks a bit like a elephant, so gorgeous!
So why should you visit Pai? Well let me tell you first that Pai is surrounded by mountains and the location of the city is in the valley. As I mentioned before, after a 4 hour long busride from hell all the way from Chiang Mai, you'll be glad when you arrive in Pai. It's like a little hippie town with lots of handicraft shops, chill restaurants and bars. It's not really crowded but there are tourists and some europeans who live here. The citycenter itself is small, you have the walking street and some other streets but that's basically all. Pai is surrounded by beautiful waterfalls, hotsprings, a canyon and the most beautiful nature you've ever seen. I would highly recommend that you rent a scooter (very cheap) every day you're here. Every night there's a little market where you can buy all your handicraft goodies and fresh fruit. Yeah, Pai has it all. Small, cosy and hippie-ish!
