Got to get up and try

OMG. It's freezing nowadays. And bare with me, because when this post will be online, I'm heading towards the even colder north of europe: Trondheim! Brrrrr... Need to bring warm stuff! And I'm still a sucker at packing in suitcases. Eventhough I'm doing it almost twice a week. Anyway, I'm looking forward to this trip. Got lots of time to spend in Trondheim and in Sandefjord Torp as well. Hopefully I'm able to snap some nice pictures! Any of my dear readers who live in Norway? And have tips for the nightlife scene of Trondheim?

And btw, what do you think of my good old backpack? Took this thing with me to Thailand and I really loved it back then. But I kind of forgot about it and stowed it away. But found it again and I'm very pleased with it! Such a nice backpack :)

INTERIEUR: Mijn kamer

Welcome to my organized chaos! Just a few snapshots from my room. Maybe you've seen my room before? But I changed some of the details and wanted to show it again. I'm living with my mum -again-, as some of you already know. I used to live in Haarlem, which was also a lot of fun but too small and too expensive. This is just my bedroom, I've got a seperate room/walk in closet for my clothes and other stuff.

I'm a big, no HUGE fan of interior! So why don't you click my interior button at the top of my page? I've already made a lot of posts about it. I love to read interior magazines as well. My next project will be re-organizing my walk in closet. Some fresh new paint and some new closets. Will show you a post soon!

I remember every sunset

I would love to go back to summer paradise. I can't stand the cold, freezing all the time. And not to forget that it's just autumn, not even winter. Brrr. If I could go somewhere summer-ish, I'll be there in a heartbeat. I miss the vibe, the beach, the warm sun, everything. But I'm looking forward to the winter season as well. Hopefully there will be some snow again here in the Netherlands. :)

Went thriftshopping yesterday. Unfortunately prices in the thriftstores are rising and I don't think it's worth it anymore to pay the same price for secondhand stuff as for things you can find in Primark for the same price. Don't know what happend, but maybe it's because thriftstores became very popular. Is thrifting still paying of where you guys live? Or is it getting more expensive?

FLYING: Saint Tropez and Port Grimaud

In moments like these, I feel so lucky... Because of my job I can visit the most amazing places in Europe. And while we don't always have a lot of time to spend, we sure as hell make the most out of it!

Nice was the 4th nightstop in my 5 day trip. And while the other days were filled with delays, arriving late and lots of flights, this day was different: we arrived around noon in Nice. And so we rented a small car and drove for an hour and a half to Saint Tropez. I went together with the first officer and captain, both were a lot of fun. Saint Tropez is just a small but amazing place to visit. Pretty boats, great buildings and because it's so small is really cute! It's the place for the rich and famous.

After a delicious lunch in the harbor, we climbed up a hill and enjoyed the stunning view. It was beyond amazing. On our way back, we stopped at 'Port Grimaud', also a little village which reminds me alot of Venice. Little bridges, cute canals and lots of overpriced boats!

The pictures are in chronological order: from Saint Tropez to Port Grimaud. Hope you enjoy them but be aware because I made lots of pictures!

Windmill

As mentioned before, I'm always looking for new locations for outfit shoots. This time in front of an old windmill, just 10 minutes from my house. It has a dark green color, typical for the area where I live. They still use it, although I forgot what they use it for. I've been there many times with school, so much fun!

This time I'm wearing a bright pink sweater in combination with a printed skirt. It was a nice and comfy outfit. I'm at home now (make my posts in advance) and enjoy a nice cup of tea while reading and learning my flight safety manual! (errr... and a bit of blogging ofcourse!) It's time for my yearly flight safety recurrent. Something we need to do every year in order to continue flying. Two days filled with exams, so I'm quite nervous!

FLYING: Stuttgart

Remember I told you about my five day trip? And that I gave an update about the delays? Well... It was quite an intense trip! Everything started out great: beautiful weather in Stuttgart and so it was amazing to go outside and take pictures. But later that day, when we were supposed to fly back, things have changed drastically. There was an early morning fog in Amsterdam which delayed every aircraft coming in and eventually going out... So our aircraft arrived really late. We were waiting for an hour and a half at the airport! And when the aircraft finally came in, we quickly boarded the passengers and were ready to go... But then the plane got technical. So... 2,5 hours with passengers on board and no new departure time... In the end, our flight got canceled and I flew back to Amsterdam as a passenger and had to go to Aalborg afterwards (was supposed to go to Kristiansand).

The next days were also quite strange, will tell you about that later! I hope you enjoy my autumn pictures of Stuttgart (or well, we stay in a little village just outside stuttgart, but I forgot about the name). Hope you guys are all doing well. Stay tuned for more!

Symphonica in Rosso

Went to a concert last week. My brother recieved some free tickets and had a spare one. So he called me and we drove to the south of the Netherlands for 'Symphonica in Rosso'. It was a concert by the dutch band 'Doe Maar'. Eventhough all the guys are pretty old, I loved their music. It's like a relaxed kind of ska (bare with me if I'm wrong) and the vibe was amazing. Also got to see 'Gers Pardoel', a famous dutch singer.

And we got very lucky: we were standing right in front of the stage, we could almost touch the artists! It was such a fun night out, also to be with my brother (and his friends) again was amazing. I did my best to take some nice pictures, so I hope you like them :)

FLYING: Hi from 30.000ft

Just a quick hello somewhere on route from Amsterdam to Bologna. Beautiful view over the alpes! Right now I'm in Aalborg. This 5 day trip is getting very interesting, with lots of delays and change of destinations.

Summerfeelings in October

It almost felt like summer, a couple of days ago. But don't be fooled... It's almost November and the 20 degrees celcius moments are just moments... Just two days of going outside without wearing a coat. It's the feeling of the sun on your skin, the warm breeze in your face and the beauty of the nature nowadays.

And when this post will be online, I'm again flying around Europe. This time a 5 day trip to Stuttgart, Kristiansand, Lyon and Nice. It's good to be away for a couple of days. Thinking of anything fun. Dating didn't work out, heard that over phone, was not so much fun. But life goes on and so am I. On one hand I feel sad, on the other hand I'm looking forward to be single for a while. Just not thinking about anybody else and do what I want to do. I'm going to take salsa lessons again. I've already finished one course but it was a while ago. So I would love to start over and dance again! :)

FLYING: Dusseldorf

Remember I told about my reserve duty? And my nightstop in Dusseldorf? Well, I took a lot of pictures! We changed hotels in Dusseldorf, and now we're staying at the main street of Dusseldorf: Koningsallee. The hotel is good and I love its location in the city center. It was a pretty good day with lots of sunshine and I walked around with my collegues and had a typical German diner (Schnitzel!). My last visit was a year ago and I loved to be back. I also went shopping and bought cheap shampoo in the DM. Besided that, I went to 'Gina Tricot'. Didn't buy anything, but love their collection.

Wintercoat no 2.

Coat: H&M

And meet my other coat, from H&M. It's actually a wintercoat from the 2010/2011 season, but I bought it in the online sale just a month ago. It has such a funny shape, almost like an egg. Also, not a very thick one, but perfect for the weater as it is right now: rainy, windy and cold!

Industrial tones

I'm trying to make my outfit pictures more interesting. That's why I'm always looking for new backgrounds and settings. My mother (who takes about 60% of my pictures) came up with this idea, shooting the pictures in front of an industrial building. I like this new scenery, what do you think?

And I decided to try something different with my hair. A new sort of braid, in order to keep my too-long-to-be-bangs-but-too-short-to-be-normal hair out of my face. I like my hair when it's up in a bun, you see me wearing it like that most of the time. But sometimes a girl needs to try something different. Well, I hope you like it :)

3 Colors and a gift from Capricci

Vapiano, a good vino and friends: what else do you need? I had a lovely pizza bruschetta (my favorite!) and enjoyed good converstions with my friend. I'm wearing a very thick (still having this damn cold) knitted sweater combined with my high waisted burgundy shorts. Absolutely love with when my clothes are a bit oversized, it's so comfortable!

Whenever I have no clue what to wear, I stick to my "3 color" rule: just pick 3 colors and mix them together. Usually something black and white with an extra color. I'm also wearing my new bracelet which was a gift from capricci. I love the little airplane and eiffel tower. It makes the heart of a cabin attendant and fashionista beat a bit faster!

Wintercoat no 1.

Coat: Primark

It's my pleasure to introduce to you: my new wintercoat. It's the very first time I decided to buy a light colored wintercoat. And what do you think about the style? I love the military fit and the small details. Unfortunately it's not a very thick one, so when the temperatures will drop below zero, I'll have to wear another one.

And good news: work send me to Dusseldorf and Basel. I really, really, REALLY like Basel. Our hotel has a swimming pool paradise next to it, which we can enter for FREE! Hallelujah for swimming all day untill you're very wrinkly! I also like germany. Maybe another visit to the DM and eat at vapiano's! Love it!

Reserve duty

I make most of my blogposts in advance, so when this post will be online, I'm once again on my loved and hated reserve duty. Having my suitcase ready for a 5 day trip and fully packed with winter and summer clothes. It's the in between phase which I hate. Don't know if you need to use your coat or not. Hopefully work will send me to a nice destination!

It's been raining cats and dogs again in the Netherlands. So again, I took my camera with me to a parking lot nearby for a different background. I hate it when it's raining all day, I have no clue what to do. I can't sit still all day but what else can you do?

Sunset

Are you in to photography? The best time to take your pictures is during sunrise and sunset, because of this magical 'golden' light which gives your pictures a beautiful glow. I usually take my pictures (errrr, correction: my mother takes my pictures 60% of the time) during the day and need to add a bit of warmth with photoshop. But photoshop was not necessary for the pictures below. They turned out to be great!

What do you think of my new colorful jacket? I've been looking for one for a very long time and really love the bright colors! Even for winter it looks great!< I decided to wear it with a light green, basic tee and some cute shorts from h&m

Parking lot

It's the time of the year I think... Temperatures are dropping and I'm feeling sick, a very bad cold including a red nose a la rudolph. Bwah. So no flying because of my ears but a lot of blogging instead! Which is not too bad, since this week was filled with great news! A colleague contacted me for a really nice cooperation and besides that I became The Netherlands top fashionista on chicisimo and one of my looks got picked by Maria. Super duper awesome :)

The daybook blog

Two years ago I discovered this blog by Sydney, and from that moment I started following her. She became pregnant and showed her readers the ever-growing belly. And so after nine months, baby Everett was born. Within two weeks Sydney was already wearing the cutest dresses and nowadays she really is a fashionable mom. She is young, writes funny and awkward things and takes beautiful pictures.

Lions, tigers & fashion oh my!

Very pretty girl wears pretty, cheap and thrifted stuff. Need to say more? Besides that, she also takes gorgeous pictures and has a beautiful dog and cat. I read her blog for years and can't wait for new posts! She lives in the united states and shows her readers the most amazing places in and outside the states. Always with a vintage/thrifted touch. Love this girl!

Rosie Glow

Pretty english girl with a not so very typical english style. The layout is very cute and so is she. She already has a lot of followers and takes pictures of pretty stuff. I love to read her blog!

Rediscoverring the things you love

I'm going through piles and piles of clothes which I used to love. Everything is changing so quickly, it's difficult to keep up with the rest -of the fashion bloggers-. Because that's what I do nowadays, besides serving people nuts and drinks on board an airplane ofcourse. Everything is so interesting and so tempting! I can't leave a shop without buying something. So why not shop in your own closet?

More about that (addictions) later. So it turned out to be a pretty good idea, going through the piles of clothes. I found an olive green parka jacket which I used to love. But I found and bought a better one, which I wear nowadays, so this one ended up stowed away.

And so I got my pair of scissors and I cut of the sleeves, in order to have my 'army style' waistcoat/vest/whatever you would like to name it. It was easy to do and it looks nice. What do you think? Do you like my 'DIY' army waistcoat?

Clattering hoofs bring back old memories

I have not always been this much into fashion. It's just something wich came up when my passion for horses slowely slipped away. It's actually not the passion which slipped away, but after I sold my own horse things would never be the same.

My first real meeting with a horse was at the age of 2. My brother had a horse, and so I joined him to the stables while looking from a corner to those great, muscular animals who he brushed with so much care and love. It was that particular moment when I realised this should be my future... But I had to wait for three more years till I was old enough to join the horse back riding classes.

From that moment I forced my mother to drive me two days a week to the stables. I lived for the moments in the stables: the lessons inside the manege and the scheduled time that I could take care of several horses. This was no interest, no hobby, no after-school activity. It became my passion, my love, a fixation.

And so, at the age of 12, I saved enough money to buy my first horse. I spend most of my time in the stables for six beautiful years. Skipping school to ride, brush and clean the stables. No boys, no nightlife, no passion for fashion. Just my burning passion for horses. And eventhough I wasn't much of a talent in the saddle, I loved to ride outside and enjoy the nature and the horse's repetitive movements underneath me. It was so peaceful. Every moment was well spend.

At the age of 18, after dreaming about and even seriously considering a career as a professional horse back rider, reality kicked in. As mentioned before, I wasn't that much of a talent in the saddle. And I realised that grooming horses was not the thing you could pay the bills with. After dropping out of school, I had to go back. And so I decided to sell my horse (I've always payed for everything, but when you're in school again, you can't do both...). Tears flooded for days. I was heartbroken and devastated. And eventhough we never really broke up, the horses and I, it was the end of a great time. But also the beginning of something new.

I finally graduated and at the age of 21 I became a cabin attendant. Nowadays I can't imagine owning a horse due to the lack of time. But when I joined my best friend yesterday to see and photograph her horse, memories came back. They literally came back. Bringing tears to my eyes when I think of the time where I used to be that girl. But I'm not anymore...

I don't think I want my own horse anymore. But I must admit that going back in time yesterday was such a great thing to do. I've had my time, I've had my change to get back in the saddle a few times over the years. And it was amazing. But it was not the same. Not like it used to...

Into the wild

What if you're feeling sick but you can't sit still and don't want to stay home all day? Wear your thickest knitted cardigan, your cutest scarf and go out to the forest! And don't forget to bring your camera, there are some magical things you can see and snap right now!

FLYING:Oostenrijk, Wenen

Vienna is the capital and largest city of Austria and also one of my favorite destinations. I love the nightlife, the buildings, the food, the weather... And yesterday was my last time in Vienna for 2012. It included partying, enjoying the beautiful weather, sightseeing, visiting the spanish riding school and eating delicious food. What else do you need? I fell in love with Vienna almost two years ago. It's such an amazing and beautiful city, we have enjoyed every moment of our stay.

We went clubbing and walked around the city center during the day. I saw a lot of amazing things, but visiting the spanish riding school was a dream come true. We had an early diner at 'naschmarkt'. It has around 120 market stands and restaurants for a colorful culinary experience. I absolutely loved it! If you like clubbing: visit 'Volksgarten' for an amazing night out. I've been there several times and think it's a lovely place.

The winner of the Bebeque giveaway is... Mylou (Applepie). I'll contact you as soon as possible!

Autumn leaves

Not a lot of words today, just a new outfit in neutral, soft colors. Right now I'm in Nice and unfortunately I haven't got time to pick a winner for the giveaway. Bear with me please, I will announce the winner a.s.a.p. Besides that, I would like to share this beautiful lyric with you:

'Autumn Leaves'

The falling leaves drift by my window
The falling leaves of red and gold
I see your lips the summer kisses
The sunburned hands I used to hold

Since you went away the days grow long
And soon I'll hear old winter's song
But I miss you most of all my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall

Since you went away the days grow long
And soon I'll hear old winter's song
But I miss you most of all my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall

And don't forget, there is more!

In between rain showers

It's raining cats and dogs today, almost non stop, vertical and very heavy rain showers. But during the 15 minutes of grey skies without any rain, we shot the outfit pictures. I love my new burgundy knitted sweater from H&M. I'm also wearing items from Only via the webshop sans-online.

Remember I told you about my visit to Lyon and Nice? Well, things didn't really worked out there. I miscalculated and had just enough time to eat something in Lyon, so no pictures. And autumn also started in Nice: it was raining all day long. And right now I'm unpacking and packing my suitcase again. Just one day off before I'm up in the sky again. I'm going to Nice (again) and to Vienna.

Tomorrow I'll announce the winner of the Bebeque giveaway!

TRAVEL: Thailand, Bangkok

After 17 days of exploring the most beautiful places of Thailand, I arrived in Bangkok around 9 in the morning. We drove past several slums. That was my first and very bad impression of Bangkok: a very large and crowded place with high buildings and large slums. The garbage seemed to be everywhere. On one side, the trash-polluted streets mingled with the dust but also the skyscrapers, statues and the beautiful grand palace.

I still remember the sense of almost complete chaos that I felt when I first arrived, on my own, at Bangkok’s Khao San Road. I walked around and was overwhelmed, not completely sure wheter I liked it or not.

After a quick lunch we rented bikes at the well known Co van Kessel and had a 3 hour citytour. We cycled through China town and experienced Bangkok from a different and a bit dangerous side. It was awesome and beautiful.

We ended our day with a lovely dinner 83 floors above reality. This was also another amazing experience: looking over the skyline of Bangkok while eating the most delicious food you can think of.

After our dinner and several cocktails the taxidriver dropped us off at the airport around midnight, while making ourselves ready for an 11 hour flight back to the cold north. Thailand was overwhelming and such an amazing experience which I'll never forget. I desperately needed time off, and I was supposed to go to Thailand with my ex=boyfriend. But we broke up, and so I went alone. All by myself. And I had the best time of my life. I felt relieved and released. I finally feel myself again.

Warning: picture overload!

Going Dutch

Today, during a turnaround in Amsterdam I read the october issue of our airline magazine. It was all about the Netherlands and typical dutch things. I think the Dutch have their businesses all around their globe, while leaving extraordinary footprints.

For example: do you own a bike? It's a typical dutch thing. Besides that, I always wear orange clothing during queensday (30th of April). I can honestly say I'm proud to be Dutch!

And about pretty things: a couple of days ago we were shooting the outfit pictures in front of a windmill. Also a very dutch thing. And when it comes to dutch webshops: I'm wearing a beautiful necklace from the online webshop Capricci. It's such a beautiful items which really brightens up my outfit. Thanks again Capricci!
