Na drie nachten in Siem Reap en de tempels van Angkor Wat, Cambodja, was het tijd om verder te gaan met onze Zuid Oost Azië trip. We vlogen vanaf de luchthaven van Siem Reap met Air Asia naar Kuala Lumpur, om enkele uren later door te vliegen naar het westelijk gelegen eiland Langkawi. Het bleek schoolvakantie te zijn in Maleisië, dus ons vliegtuig was afgeladen vol met schreeuwende en krijsende kinderen. Anway, eenmaal aangekomen op het eiland pakten we de taxi naar ons hotel; Courtyard Langkawi. Simpel, degelijk en voor wat wij wilden het goedkoopst. Maleisië is duur, laat ik dat voorop stellen, Langkawi zeker. Dubbel zo duur als Thailand. Maargoed, het hotel lag prima bij het grote strand van Pantai Chenang. We regelden ook direct een brommer voor de komende 6 dagen.

After three nights in Siemreap and the temples of Angkor Wat, Cambodia, it was time to continue with our South East Asia trip. We flew from Siem Riep with Airasia to Kuala Lumpur and after a few hours on KLIA we continued to the island Langkawi. Apparently it was bank holiday in Malaysia since our flight was very crowded with screaming kids, boo! Anway, upon arrival we arranged a cab to our hotel; Courtyard Langkawi. It was simple, basic and for our 'needs' it was the cheapest hotel we could find. It was just fine. Keep in mind; Malaysia can be very expensive, and Langkawi sure is! It will be almost twice as expensive as Thailand. The location of our hotel was fine; it was close to Pantai Chenang, Langkawi's most beautiful and most crowded beach. We also arranged a motorbike for the next 6 days.
Op 25 mei vertrokken we vanuit Luang Prabang met het vliegtuig (96 euro p.p., vietnam airlines) naar Siem Reap in Cambodja. Bij aankomst op de luchthaven in Siem Reap werden we super luxe opgehaald door iemand van ons hotel, Memoire D'Angkor. En wat een fantastisch hotel was dat, we kregen zelfs een upgrade naar een luxe suite! Het was ook ons eerste hotel met zwembad, waar we dankbaar gebruik van hebben gemaakt. De service standaard in ons hotel lag hoog, ze deden werkelijk alles voor ons en iedereen in het hotel probeerde een leuk praatje met ons te maken. Gezien het feit dat we redelijk laat aankwamen besloten we direct op zoek te gaan naar een leuk restaurant. Via tripadvisor vonden we het braziliaanse restaurant Gigi's Brasil, waar ik nog een klein dansje deed met de eigenaresse. Kijk snel verder voor meer verhalen van Angkor Wat!

On may 25th we departed from Luang Prabang by plane (96 euro p.p., vietnam airlines) to Siem Reap in Cambodia. Upon arrival at the airport of Siem Reap we got a nice suprise with a luxurious pickup from our hotel, Memoire D'Angkor. It really is a beautiful hotel; we even got a nice upgrade to a luxurious suite! It was also the first hotel with a swimmingpool, which we took advantage of. The service in this hotel and as well the country is pretty high. In our hotel every employee tried some small talking with us and they were all so friendly! Op korte afstand van Utrecht ligt het prachtige Kasteel de Haar, in Haarzuilens. We zijn altijd op zoek naar mooie, nieuwe plekken om te ontdekken en om rond te wandelen en Kasteel de Haar was een super ontdekking. Het ligt op auto afstand van ons huis en tijdens een mooie herfst achtige dag besloten we dan ook om er weer eens op uit te trekken. Het kasteel heeft een prachtige tuin waar je ook in kan rondwandelen en is ideaal voor het nemen van -outfit- foto's :) Het was dan ook volop genieten en zeker een aanrader als je een keer wat leuks wilt doen buiten Utrecht. Je moet wel entree betalen, ik dacht dat het € 7,50 per persoon was. Maar het is het zeker meer dan waard. Zijn jullie er wel eens geweest?

At short distance from Utrecht you can find the beautiful 'Castle de Haar, in Haarzuilens. The boy and I always try to find new, fun and intresting places and this castle really was a very nice discovery! It's from a short distance from our home and during a nice autumn day we decided to go out. The castle has a beautiful garden to wander around and is the perfect place for outfit shoots. And other shoots ofcourse ;) It really is a very beautiful place and a must see when you have time and you're in Utrecht. I think the entrance fee was about € 7,50 per person but it's definitely worth it. Have you already been there?
Hoewel ik niet heel vaak meer het nachtleven in duik ben ik altijd wel voor een leuk festival te porren. Want; overdag is gewoon fijn en mooie muziekjes en biertjes bij daglicht is eigenlijk nog beter. Daarnaast ben ik niet vies van een klein verkleedpartijtje en kon ik ein-de-lijk mijn favoriete flowercrown op.
Gelukkig was Lief Festival, gevestigd op het strijkviertel in Utrecht niet heel ver fietsen van ons huis. Het weer was in de ochtend dramatisch, maar in de loop van de dag lekker droog en meer dan prima. Het leuke aan lief festival is het feit dat ze verschillende podia hebben en daarnaast ook een hoop andere leuke activiteiten. Zo kreeg ik mooie bloemetjes naast mijn oog geschminkt (lekker boho inspired), knutselde ik zelf een hoofdtooi en maakte mijn vriend nog een leuk armbandje. Daarnaast was er ook een leuke hippie markt. Het eten was voor festival begrippen ook meer dan prima. Al met al echt een superleuke dag, een van de leukste festivals waar ik ben geweest :)

While I'm not that much into the nightlifescene I do love a good festival. Because I prefer my parties to be during the daytime and drinking beers and enjoying good music with the sun on your face is like the best feeling in the world. Besides that I really like to wear something completely fun which I can't wear during a normal day out. So I could finally wear this beautiful flower crown!
Lief festival, (sweet festival) is located at the strijkviertel in Utrecht, close to our home, so we could take our bikes. While the weather was pretty aweful during the morning (raining cats and dogs) it turned out to be pretty good in the afternoon. The great thing about Lief Festival is the fact that they have several stages and besides that alot of other fun activities. They painted some pretty boho inspired flowers next to my eye and I made a nice hairband with some feathers. My boyfriend made his own bracelet and there was even a little hippie market. The food was delicious and more than fine. It really was a great day out, definitely worth the money and better than most of the festivals I've been to.

Het is weer tijd voor een nieuwe ebay tip, deze keer een prachtige striped midi skirt. Ik heb hem al een tijdje in mijn kast hangen, maar het was eindelijk eens mooi weer en dus tijd voor een leuke outfit! Het is een fijne katoenen rok die bijna niet doorschijnt. Bij mij valt hij als midi-skirt en dus besloot ik hem te combineren met een leuke floral top van primark. De rok had ik binnen twee weken binnen en voor 6,50 is het echt een koopje!

It has been unworn in my closet for a while, but since the weather finally turned into summer heat it was time to pull it out and make a cute combination. It's a nice cotton skirt which has no see through. I'm very tall, 1,77m to be exact and on my body it's more a midi skirt which I absolutely love. In de maand augustus en september is het vlinder festival in de botanische tuinen van de universiteit van Utrecht. Het was eindelijk weer eens mooi zonnig weer en dus pakten we onze fiets richting de uithof, waar de tuinen zich bevinden. Aangezien mijn vriend en ik beide geen studenten meer zijn kregen we ook geen korting, maar de € 7,50 entree per persoon was het toch meer dan waard.
Het is een groot complex met heel erg veel planten en bloemensoorten, prachtig om naar de kijken en doorheen te wandelen. Ook kent het terrein verschillende subtropische kassen en een kas met vlinders. Ik ben echt gek op vlinders en vond ze prachtig om te zien. Het waren er zo veel, en het was heerlijk rustig! Ideaal om foto's te maken van deze kleine wondertjes. De tuin leent zich ook perfect voor het maken van outfit foto's, dus zie hier het resultaat :)

In august and september the university of Utrecht has a so called 'butterfly festival' in their botanical gardens. The weather was finally nice, perfect to cycle to the uithof, the place where you can find the botanical gardens. Since the boy and I both are not students anymore we didn't recieve any discount, but € 7,50 per person was definitely worth it; it is beautiful!
The botanical gardens are huge, you have several different area's all set up with different plants and flowers. It's a true pleasure to have a nice walk over there. They also have two buildings with subtropical plants and one with butterflies as well. I personally love butterflies and had the most amazing time. There were so many of them, all in the most beautiful colors! The garden is also perfect for taking outfit photos, so below you see the result :)

Mijn vriend en ik wonen samen, en daarbij hoort ook de aanschaf van gezamelijke spullen. Mijn vriend zijn pocketcamera, welke we altijd mee op reis hadden, werkte niet meer zo goed. Die van mij werd een beetje oud. Daarom besloten we dan ook om gezamelijk een nieuwe camera te kopen; de NX2000 van Samsung (systeemcamera). Het mooie aan de camera is onder andere de wifi functie en het feit dat we met onze telefoon de camera van een afstand kunnen besturen. Laatst kwam dan ook eindelijk ons nieuwe statief binnen van Ebay en onze eerste selfies in de soesterduinen waren een feit.

Opnieuw waren we weer eens op pad, dit keer naar Kasteel Groeneveld vlakbij Baarn, wat eigenlijk niet echt een kasteel maar meer een groot landhuis is. Het beschikt daarnaast over een gigantische en vooral ook heel mooie tuin, waar we lekker doorheen hebben gewandeld.
Ik denk dat het belangrijk is om tijd te investeren in het doen van leuke dingen samen. We gaan er vaak op uit en proberen dan ook vaak naar nieuwe dingen te gaan die we beide nog niet gezien hebben. We zijn echte actievelingen, haha! Overigens is dit ook meteen een kleine outfitpost van mijn vriend, haha! Wat vinden jullie van zijn nieuwe (zelfontworpen!) rayban? Ik gaf hem voor zijn verjaardag cadeau, ik vind hem echt heel tof staan!

Vandaag -1 april 2014- zijn mijn vriend en ik precies een jaar samen! Vorig jaar op deze datum vroeg hij me tijdens een etentje bij Gauchos Amsterdam. Het was super romantisch: hij had een hotel geregeld en ik de kaartjes voor een leuk feestje in onze mooie hoofdstad. Van te voren gingen we dus uit eten, en vanaf dat moment (en eigenlijk daarvoor al) zijn we onafscheidelijk.
Het was een te gek jaar met zoveel leuke dingen; twee mooie vakanties, weekendjes weg, dagjes weg en heel veel fietsen, dagtochtjes en picknicks. Hij is niet alleen mijn knappe vriendje, maar ook in veel opzichten mijn beste vriend. Hoewel we soms echt wel discussiëren, zijn we het over de grote dingen altijd snel eens en denken we ook hetzelfde.
Vandaag gaan we heerlijk uit eten en geef ik hem dit cadeau: een fotoboek wat ik zelf heb gemaakt en uiteindelijk laten printen bij Hema. Van onze eerste date tot eind vorige maand: al onze dingen staan erin. Hoewel ik de grootste fotofreak ben, kan hij er ook wat van en daarom had ik gelukkig veel materiaal om mee te werken. Duimen jullie mee dat hij het leuk vind?

Today -april 1st 2014- my boyfriend and I are exactly one year together! 365 Days ago he asked me to become his girlfriend during a dinner at Gauchos Amsterdam. It was super romantic: he arranged a hotel and I bought tickets for a nice evening in our beautiful capital Amsterdam. Before we went to the club, we had a dinner and that was the moment where he asked me. And we are together ever since.
It has been an amazing year with so many great things: two beautiful holidays, weekends away, day tours and a lot of cycling and picknicks. He is not only my very handsome boyfriend, but also in many ways my very best friend. We do have arguments every now and then, ofcourse! But in great lines we think alike and agree quickly.
And today we're going out for dinner and I'm going to give him this present: a photobook which I made myself and printed at Hema (dutch store). I used all the photos from our very first date until last month: everything is in there. And eventhough I am the biggest fan of photographing, he also likes the camera and thankfully I had a lot of pictures I could work with. I really hope he likes it :)

Ik draag mijn nieuwe jasje van Pimkie wat ik drie maanden geleden in Toulouse in de uitverkoop vond. Het was afgeprijsd van 50 euro naar 12 euro, echt super goedkoop! Het heeft een aztec printje en zachte zomerse kleurtjes. Hij is dan wel van vorig jaar, maar dit jaar zal hij zeker nog vaak op mijn blog verschijnen :)

We zijn al vaker in Amelisweerd geweest, ook in de zomer is het er echt prachtig! Normaal gaan we dan ook altijd fietsen, dus dat gaan we in de zomer dan ook weer volop doen, kan niet wachten :)

Remember I told you my boyfriend and I were on a luxurious work trip TOGETHER? So 4 days of flying together? That's pretty amazing! Our last day of the trip was in Lyon, France. It's a place where we both have been many times before, and also two times together as well.
And we both do love Lyon! So many good places to eat and to see! We both enjoy cycling, and since the hotel offers the bikes for free (renting ofcourse) we always go by bike to the city center. I just love cycling and following the river all the way up to the main square (place bellecour).
We spend our day eating, cycling and sightseeing. The sunset was again pretty amazing and I took a lot of pictures during that time of the day. Have you been to Lyon before? And do you like it?

While I love my job more than almost anything else, spending time with the ones I love is the thing I love and enjoy the most. Because it's so much more important than my job as a flight attendant. But what is more perfect when these two things are combined?
Just a week before christmas my boyfriend -who's a pilot (first officer)- and I flew together. The cockpit door was the only thing that separated us, and our little 4 day trip was pretty perfect! We requested an early trip to Prague, Bologna and Lyon and by suprise we both got this trip!
It's very difficult for us to fly together. We do work for the same airline, but whereas he's only flying the embraer, I fly another aircraft (fokker70) as well. And therefor my roster has more options and more variety than his. So we had to look closely and finally found the perfect 'pairing' we could fly together.
I do love my job, I can't imagine a life without flying, but I do miss my time at home every now and then. I love spending time with my mom, my boyfriend and my friends. But sometimes it's very hard to have days off in the weekend or to have a day off at someones birthday. I'm away for 4 nights a week most of the time, making it very difficult to maintain a blog as well. But I manage, I do what I can and I do it with love.
During a cold winterafternoon, just a couple of days before christmas, the boyfriend and I started a little trip together. He's a pilot, a first officer to be precise and as most of you know I'm a cabin attendant. It's not very common that we fly together. We do request it a lot, but it never seems to work, until now.
He's not only my love but also my colleague, and it makes it even more fun to fly together! During our first day at work we flew to Prague, where we arrived around 2PM. It was a bit grey but that couldn't stop us from exploring this beautiful city!
We got a taxi up to the castle and walked all the way down, via the bridge to the main square. We enjoyed a hot wine at the local christmas market and had diner with the other crewmembers at italian restaurant 'pasta fresca' which was delicious! Prague is so beautifully decorated around christmas. The lights everywhere, the amazing christmastree on the square: it is just all so perfect! Prague is the best destination for a short weekend trip! Have you been to Prague before?
Hopefully never too late for some good old christmas family pictures! It's two weeks ago, but since I haven't blogged in that period I decided to show you my christmas today.
Let me first explain that we have 2 days of christmas in the Netherlands. Ofcourse, as like in any other country we celebrate the 1st day of christmas on the 25th and afterwards we have -ofcourse- the 2nd day of christmas (your boxing day). It's usually the day we spend at our 'other' family, the inlaws. So I went to my boyfriends family in Soest for the first day of christmas and we enjoyed an afternoon filled with games, wines, food and lots of fun.
We had a lovely diner which was very well prepared by my boyfriend and his family. He's a real good cook! There was so much food, I looked pregnant after the 4 courses! Haha! We spend the night at his mothers house and drove to my mom the next day.
So at my mum's we had a 'gourmet' diner, basically: you prepare your own meat. It was delicous and again lots of fun. I gained at least 2kgs these past two days! Haha! But it's so worth it! It's good to spend the days with the ones you love! Anyway, I hope you like all the pictures! I hope your christmas was a lot of fun too! How did you spend your christmas days?

During one of our days off the boy and I decided to take the train for a 2 hour ride down south and crossed the border with Belgium all the way to Antwerp.
Antwerp has been on my "must see" list for a long time, so now I can finally tick that box! It was an easy train ride from Utrecht and the city itself is very beautiful. We walked via the big market to the riverside and saw a couple of highlights from this amazing Belgium city.
But what would Antwerp be without all the shops? It's like fashion heaven for a true fashionista. You see, we don't have Forever21 in the Netherlands. We do have Urban Outfitters, finally, but only since last week. So you can imagine I had to do a little bit more than just window shopping.
I end up buying nothing due to the lack of money. However I wanted to have all the stuff from 'Camille over the rainbow' for Pimkie. Such an amazing collection! I loved all the pieces she designed, but maybe I'll buy something later during this season. Anyway, enough chitchat, I'll show you the pictures and I hope you like them :)
